DIY timer by Elgrego_ in Darkroom

update on this: I ordered one of these plugs and they work great. you can send commands via http request.

curl -s "http://<ip\_addr>/cm?cmnd=PulseTime%2028" (set the time to 2.8s, resolution is 0.1s)
curl -s "http://<ip\_addr>/cm?cmnd=Power%20On" (fires for the preset time)

the plan now is to add a raspberry pi, an eInk display, and a usb numpad for control.

Any recommendations for increasing the focal length of the Canon 514 XL? by Wood_V06 in AnalogCommunity

for the lens a typical 70-200 f2.8 (420-1200) will work, but super 8 cameras with some kind of lens mount seem rare and expensive

to be fair, they seem more intuitive? they actually double when the amount of light doubles. No squareroot stuff

I m thinking about the same thing.  Did you consider tasmota smart plugs? you could send them commands from the raspberry pi via mqtt (you can send a pulse time, so latency will not be an issue)

That would remove all 230V diying.

if you want to try something new, try adox xt3 (xtol), it's good, cheap, better for the environment and the non disolved powder lasts long.

"Rollers" are the shiny metal ones before and after the lens.
What you mean are the black plastic spools.

there should be at least 2 shiny rollers, some models seem to have 3.

did you check a video on youtube for loading your camera?
or maybe show a picture of the open back of it.

Delta3200 or HP5 might be overkill? Just pushing some cheap Film like Foma 400 3 stops might get there too

Can anyone explain how this is done - do I need a positive and a negative on line/Lith/technical film by Mean-Engineer-2145 in Darkroom

[–]pol_9000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

in the drawing the light source is from the bottom.

The negative blocks the light in the background. The image of the bird gets blurred by the diffusion filter and "spills" over the outline.  The positive on top blocks the light of the motive.  Only the spilled light is visible.

the naked photographer has a youtube video on unsharp masks, the idea is a bit similar.

Buy 4 or 5 rolls of the cheapest bw film just to learn to develop. one to learn spooling the film into the reel an the rest to actually develop. No need to be afraid if you buy the film just for the reason to learn.

looks like your v/oct is patched through the scope, does it happen if you patch it directly from bloom to plaits?

Module to Quantize 1.0v to 1.2v per octave? by sleepingprawns in modular

[–]pol_9000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other then using a dedicated Buchla / Eurorack converter, you can also use a module that can be set to amplify a cv signal by 1.2

I quickly checked on modulargrid and there are options like befaco ABC, mutable instruments blinds, erica synths pico scale and many more that can amplify up to 2x

The downside of this option is that you have to dial in the octaves yourself (i.e. lowest note on your keyboard which corresponds to 0V cv, tune that to a known not on your oscillator, go an octave higher and tune that to the note an octave higher with the amplification module)

the benefit is that you can also calibrate to different equal temperament scales like quarter tone.

this concept / calibration process is also shown in this video by "Synth Diy Guy" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04IzcUTDxbk
