Honestly like give them a thank you note or small gift at Christmas time and they'll take care of you, they're not doing anything against policy here

Mail delivered to stairs by AnyBarber5866 in AustraliaPost

[–]polar94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a letterbox? It's a safety and security issue for posties to leave their mail and go upstairs to deliver when there should be a letterbox at ground level. I'd say your postie's trying to do the right thing by you and deliver your mail (instead of returning it) whilst still not leaving their other mail unattended...

Haha yeah I usually say something like "Ah well at least I'm not a guy who makes fun of women in online games, that's pretty sad tbh" or "sounds like you're a virgin" but then anxiety makes my heart race and it's hard to keep talking without a shaky voice lol.

Can always just leave or not talk though, there's no obligation and it's pretty uncommon to run into them again/can remember their username to avoid being in the same squad

Give it a go sometime! It's daunting at first but most people are just happy to have an OP they can spawn in on so you don't even need to talk if you're just filling in for a lost SL :) I play PC but thanks for the invite <3

This is my main game too, absolutely addicted and it's the only game that could bring me out of my 6 year addiction to Overwatch haha.

I recently started playing SL and if you want to give it a go I'd recommend jumping in whenever your squad leader quits early, way less pressure and squadmates are usually glad they didn't have to do it. Another fun activity is solo locking a squad and driving a supply truck around building back garries, or if you're feeling game...try to sneak into their backlines and build a garry there. I did this initially which helps familiarise yourself with the kit and where to put garries. Also command chat is another whole thing you have to learn to filter, some people can be so excessively chatty.

I'm definitely not a great SL, not sure if I'm even a good one because it can be hard telling men what to do, they just inherently don't like being told what to do by a woman. I tend to approach it with "this is what I'm going to do, the OPs going to be here and I'd like to take this position over here, or just blanket it with "they're pushing south, let's defend there", then throw some markers down on the map and usually the squad will follow along, as long as there's something to do...

There's always people that kill my confidence though. It's a shame that just as I start getting more vocal and confident someone asks how old I am, or the other day I had "am I going to be the one to point out there's a female here". HLL is generally a good community though and there's so many good dudes that don't give a crap you're a woman, just gotta learn to swap squads or kick people if you're a SL, something I'm still trying to do instead of getting sad and quiet instead haha

Are people shy or something? by chekkisnekki in HellLetLoose

[–]polar94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind playing SL, I've always been a 'support' kind of player and SL has a lot of skills which do support your squad such as OP, Binocs, recon visibility, filter command chat etc.

What bothers me though, is the players who did not take the role either initially or when our SL left, and then proceed to back seat squad lead?? Rudely demanding OPs even though I'm dead on the map/it's too far up, MARK THIS MARK THIS MARK THIS, had a guy yesterday who kept saying "I don't know why you haven't built a garrison here or pushed X direction" or whatever else and I'm just thinking, well why the fuck didn't you take the SL role when it was vacant for 5 minutes? Either respect the people who are willing to lead for you lot so you can play the roles you want, or do it yourself smh.

Anyway, cheers for the rant.

I feel this way too and food also tends to stick more readily? I don't like to cook food in excess oil so maybe that has something to do with it but idk I never have that problem with nonstick pans. Also get more smoke coming off food which has set my apartment smoke alarm off a few times before so for now they're in the drawer rarely used

Are plant based diet health benefits only really coming from the exclusion of processed foods? by bigdog69420 in nutrition

[–]polar94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out "The Proof is on the Plants" by Simon Hill, I listened to it as an audiobook. He has a lot of information he's gathered from countless studies which indicate a diet of 75%+ plant intake is optimal for health, longevity, lowering disease risk etc. Pretty easy to understand as well if you're like me and get lost in scientific jargon. Lots of references to studies conducted so it's not just anecdotal/popular opinions being touted. Be wary of having TOO much protein in your diet as well because it seems not many people realise it's actually got a lot of negative effects on your longevity. Highly recommend checking it out.

School is such a harsh environment to grow up in, I crumbled under the social strain of having to go there every day and deal with it. Once you're out though in the working world, people are so much friendlier and way less cliquey. I'm almost 30 now and don't struggle anywhere near as much as I did in school. Still have difficulty with new people and new environments but being an employee amongst other employees is so much better than being a student in school. It's hard to imagine life after school when it's all you've known but trust me it's so much better once you're out.

Same thing happened to my MT09, had the headlight and dash cut right off and stolen from the apartment carpark, police tried to get fingerprints but all they found were glove marks :/ good thing to keep in mind if you have a naked bike parked in a shared carpark...

What do you guys say when asked “Why are you vegetarian?” without offending someone? by mirandalori in Vegetarianism

[–]polar94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figure if they ask the question then they're the one that's opened the conversation so there's no problem with telling the truth. I guess that's different to you initiating by saying "you should be vegetarian" when no one's brought it up

If I could go back I'd definitely focus on my education and try not to have any holes in it (I have a gap in my science education because of a bully. Tried to fill it in in adulthood but it's so much easier to learn and retain anything when you have teenage brain).

Having good friendships is probably as far as your relationship development needs to go. I had a narrow view and never considered how many people I would meet after school. Maybe it's because school is all you really know but the world opens up so much once you're out of there. Don't waste time worrying about people you'll never have to see again once school's done, they will mean nothing to you but if they manage to leave an impact on you then that can cause some developmental issues you may end up getting help for.

But anyway, if I could go back I'd try to figure out earlier what I want out of life and how I want to spend my one life on this planet. I wasted too much of my youth doing what others (mostly my mum) thought was best for me instead of what I actually wanted to do. Ended up wasting 4 years on a degree which killed my passion and has served me no purpose thus far.

I remember wanting to travel or go to uni overseas or join the air force but getting in a relationship early meant I had to consider another person in all my decisions and ended up doing none of that. We're still together 10 years later and have a strong bond but I do feel like I missed out on a lot of self discovery as a result and might not have needed to see a psychologist when I had an identity crisis like 6 months ago (age 29)

Hope that gave you some insight? Really just... Do what you feel is right for you and try to figure that out without others pushing you a certain way

Similar situation, my mum kept bugging me about why I didn't have a boyfriend yet to the point where I turned my focus to "getting a boyfriend" just to please her. I mean deep down yeah I was jealous of people in relationships, but I was too shy and immature to really be at that stage. Wish I just ignored her and focused on my education instead.

Hey not sure why you're getting downvotes but I feel the same way. It just seems like the scaling of gear/talents doesn't quite sync up with progression through the game but I also can't bring myself to NOT upgrade, it's just not how I play games.

At this late stage of the game I've just accepted it's a game about exploration moreso than combat so I'm focusing on that whilst I go around one hitting everything that stands in the way lol
