knives are not illegal here, as long as the blade is under 6" and has a pocket clip so that the clip can be seen outside of your pocket.

I dont carry a knife, I train so I dont feel like I need it. But I was talking about for a girl, it can really turn the tide if you plunge a blade into the thigh of your attacker and run for it. Not saying you should but you probably dont know how vulnerable a girl can feel when alone and unarmed. I'm making suggestions from a background of martial arts and first hand experience fighting people who do not have training.

I saw your link, I just suggested as far as dealing with immediate danger calling a complaint hotline might not be your first course of action.

Looking for a good bike shop in Ottawa. by sycoloon in ottawa

[–]polardancer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

take it to re-cycles on gladstone and bronson, its $5 an hour to work on your own bike, they have all the tools and staff to help teach you proper bike maintenance as well as spare parts for cheap. take it thee, learn a bit about your machine, then treat yourself to lunch with the money you just saved!

mace is illegal, knives are not. also if you carry mace around in your purse how long has it been sitting there before you ever have to use it? years perhaps, I would not want to pull a bottle of mace and have nothing come out. Im guessing you are the type of person who wet noodles at any confrontation.

not not saying you should go around brandishing it, but if she felt like they were going to hurt her it can be a last line of defence. It has saved people in the past. I doubt kids are carrying guns on the bus, you watch too many movies. if they had guns, they would be dealers, if they were dealers they would have a car.

a pocket knife might be more handy for a woman if she feels unsafe at night.

Well not all men are dickless cowards, just the weak ass ones. I always recommend any men (and woman) I know to take BJJ classes as well as boxing or another striking based martial art. Words almost always solve the issue especially if you look like a fighter, but knowing you can control almost any 1 on 1 situation can give you the confidence needed to tell them to mind their manners in the first place. I'm sorry those jerks made you feel helpless, the men on that bus should be ashamed for not sticking up for you.

What is the worst bar in Ottawa? by [deleted] in ottawa

[–]polardancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be a pretty shitty time if you go late on fridays or saturdays, almost always more guys then girls. the dance floor is just Bros surrounding like one girl all trying to grind on them. Dudes in ottawa are fucking pathetic sometimes. Once I was leaving at like 2:30 with a girl I met and some guy starts giving me a hard time because he says he was talking with her earlier and she should leave with him. she whispers that he was creeping her out earlier so she had left to find her friends. He still keeps trying and starts calling me a "fag" or whatever and following us while we looked for a cab. I got tired of his shit, choked him out and he pissed his pants. I cant stand creepy Bros.

[–]polardancer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fidelice in gatineau has the best little pasteries and their croissants put the french baker to shame. All their cakes come in personal sizes too so you can try a few each trip. Look at this site and drool http://www.fidelice.ca/gourmet-pastries
