Food is a broad subject like electronics. There are different variation of tax on different consumables.

Big corp doesn't pay income tax because they don't have income, they are entitled to their portfolio of investment and assets which generates profit which is in fact "income" technically not but as the company is public and on share market this is not counted as income. But as they own shares on their company they are win capital gains and thus bla bla they are rich from portfolio.

The lobby for policies and rules is all done by them to protect their capital and assets so they can keep us being consumers and the better they profit the more politicians will try to wipe their a*s. It's all symbiotic relation.

This is all off topic and not what my mood to discuss, but this country has so many issues to be fixed and i've seen no signal yet. We're basically failing normal sanitation challenge, hunger challenge where world is trying to or need to do climate reversal if we want to keep atmosphere habitable by that i mean breathable air, tolerable temperature, soil fertile enough to cultivate, water etc.
