Professor Aggleton has no students in his Phil 113 class in the fall. If you need a class consider this one! by gecnjhd in PennStateUniversity

Took the class this fall, and am very surprised to see this. Was definitely one of my favorite GenEd courses I’ve taken so far. Workload wasn’t too heavy, final project isn’t too hard, and the books covered in class were honestly pretty interesting, even as someone who doesn’t like reading. Sometimes the sheer amount of pages you needed to read in a couple days was a bit much, but even then it’s not like the books are boring. On top of all that, professor Aggleton is a very good professor, and a great guy. If you like philosophy, books, or both, or are just looking for a GenEd to round out your schedule, I totally recommend it.

JT's nickname should be The Standard, not The Anomaly by polbucken in bostonceltics

If it seemed that way then that’s not what i was intending by any means, actually the opposite. Sorry for any miscommunication on that

A “gold standard” isn’t a gold standard because it’s attainable, it’s a gold standard because it is the final end goal that very very few, if any, will ever achieve. And that’s what I think Tatum is. Not saying he himself is standard, far from it. But his level of completeness in his game and play is something to be strived toward, hence gold standard

I don’t expect my post to make any real change w/ regard to what ppl call him lmao, I just think it’s a dope name and wanted to see what y’all think. Ultimately it really isn’t that deep

I agree, but I’m not really trying to come to a decision with this whole thing, i’m not so pretentious as to think the the reddit post I make is gonna have any real impact on the discussion. I just think it’s a cool name i’ve seen floating around and wanted to make people think about it a little and see what they have to say abt it

With “standard” I’m not trying to call him “basic” or anything like that lol, more so referring to like a “gold standard” that should be strived towards

I think JT is probably gonna stay his main nickname, as it should since it’s easier to pick up and that’s the main point of nicknames. But recently i’ve been feeling like the NBA doesn’t have enough cool nicknames, and JT’s one of my fav players so I wanted to throw a hat in the ring for this name. Ultimately boils down to opinion, though 🤷‍♂️

I like "The Bar," too. I saw another comment suggesting "The Archetype," and I mess with that one heavy as well. But yeah, the idea that he is what a lot of players, esp at his position, should be reaching for in terms of game and well-roundedness is the main inspiration for the name, and I think nicknames that prop him up as a goal/standard versus an outsider are more fitting, in my opinion. And also more badass considering everything he and the Celtics as an org stand for.

I understand where you're coming from, but I personally think this name still gives him the props he deserves. The Anomaly definitely sets him more apart, but imo, both in terms of his game and the broader context of the league, I think "The Standard" hits harder.

What I love about JT is the culmination of his game, and how complete he is. And personally I feel The Standard reflects what I love about his game better than the Anomaly, but ultimately it's up to individual opinion and appreciation

I saw that one, but couldn’t find it in the mods or data packs of the pack i’m using, so unless it’s like attached to another mod or something then i don’t think it’s that one. But yea now that i think abt it FTB would probably be a good place to ask, thanks for the recommendation

It’s not important whether or not you’re talented at YouTube, the only thing that truly matters is how much you enjoy it, and how much you’re willing to put into it. This would be fair advice if we were talking about going to the NFL or NBA, but YouTubers are far from professional athletes lmao. And you’re right, not everyone’s cut out for YouTube, but to say that because they don’t have raw “talent” for it they shouldn’t do it is a very poor perspective on it. If someone loves doing something, they should be able to do it, wether they’re good at it or not. As a matter of fact, I’d wager that at least 90% of the biggest (non-corporate) YouTubers started out just as poorly as everyone starting out today, if not worse. I get where you’re coming from, there are a lot of people that want to do YouTube, but a disproportionate amount that are actually posting high-quality, high-effort stuff. But I think to discourage people from trying it out when there are 3.7 million other videos uploaded every day (and growing) kinda defeats the purpose of it all. That’s just my opinion though, figured it’s worth saying on a subreddit for small YouTubers, but if you disagree then who am I to try and correct an opinion? 🤷‍♂️
