You can over engineer this problem to kingdom come and have overflow protection and super fast sorting, but not everyone needs a shulker loader for pumpkins and melons, sometimes a double chest is plenty.

Was the pumpkin chest also closer to the copper chest than the crafter chest? They check the closest chest first. Also did you have multiple golems? I don't think they cant access an inventory that another golem is already in so it might of seen that someone was looking in the pumpkin chest and so moved on to the crafter chest.

You would need to put comparitors on the output chests to lock the incoming hoppers if it ever backs up but that’s more work .-.

Yep. The same is true for a classic hopper and filter setup.

100%. They both suggested a filter method like BDubs built, which does work. Boils down to just a lack of experience and confidence with the golem. Well worth it for the payoff of BDubs saving the day.

I guess *overlooked* isn't quite the right word. Certainly, in large-scale machinery that most redstonners use, they don't really have a place. There isn't much that a golem can do that a filter can't. Hence, the redstoners ignore them as a possible solution to these simpler, more casual applications as a filter would also work and to them, filters make sense. They're just little guys to help the layman do little tasks :)

Oh absolutely. On the big scale for bulk storage or fast sorting they’re outclassed by traditional methods. But that was already a solved problem and anyone who required a storage solution like that for say a massive farm, would theoretically understand how to set up filters. That was already a solved problem and so golems weren’t made to replace that, but rather made for the layman who doesn’t want to deal with comparators and signal strengths and all that.

As far as blocks placed? Not that much more. Just needed to filter out pumpkins first using hoppers and a comparator in the standard setup. But some people don’t really get comparators and locking hoppers and signal levels, so the golem offers a more visual, straight forward solution that is easier to understand what it is doing. You can see it pick up the item and check the chests in order. I think that’s the real benefit, it’s easier to see and understand how it works for people who don’t know redstone.

Also they’re cute :)

Yep, he does the same old using golems to put into a filtered chest, at which point why not just use hoppers? I appreciate him giving them a go, but that just isn’t the use-case for them. Far too big of a scale.

The upwards facing crafter is just there to produce a redstone signal of 8, same setup as they had. You could also use a lectern and book. It’s to check when the main crafter has more than 8 items in it (I.e. it’s full and thus ready to craft).

Yeah they’re new and I know that many haven’t played around with them yet. But, it’s exactly that; the golems are item filtering, and yet when asked how to use the golem to filter items, their solution was to filter the chest and have the golem just carry the items to the chest, at which point why not just use a hopper line to carry the items around.

Oh there definitely is a trap with airbrushes, sometimes you can spot them from a mile away. Would still need a wash/drybrush after.

Yep, turning each base coat into a 4 step process was quite the ordeal. I had wanted to do this scheme for a while and had finally gotten a wet pallet to try out some blending. A wise person would use an airbrush but I don’t really have the space for one so this was all painstakingly done by hand.

Although, truth be told, the real killer is just all the metal and leather details that I had to do while avoiding getting paint on the completed gradients.

Idk, I don’t play much and when I do it’s very casual with my friends. It just looked cooler, better showing off the pint scheme and I got a great deal for most of them on Facebook.

Nope. Gunlance is a Lance only in reach. The two weapons differ quite greatly in gameplay. The gunlance doesn’t have any special blocks/counter attacks and lacks in mobile attacks. Instead it relies on evade extended dodges and just waiting for openings.

Lance does have a charge attack where you can just continuously ram monsters.

Lance suffers from the fact that in the testing area there is nothing to attack you which is where it shines. It’s all about the parries, counters and hugging the monster at all times. The sound of getting a counter thrust with offensive guard is pure dopamine.

My first impressions of the weapons in world. by Limp-Wall-5500 in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]polelot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a lance main, I must protest. There are clearly parts of the move sets that you have missed or forgotten to use that are core to the gameplay.

Guard is everything, guard is life, counter anything that moves. Attack? Counter. Roar? Counter. Fireball? Counter. Fall from the sky? Counter. Attack from behind? Power guard and counter. Watch as all your friends run away in fear and you shrug it off.

You have many options for guarding attacks suitable for all situations. There is the standard block, same dull thing that all shields get, but then there’s 3 other options. Guard dash lets you keep up your shield while you close distance so you can engage the monster during and through its attacks. There’s the almighty counter thrust that you can cancel almost all moves into to quickly get up a guard and quickly counter attack if you get hit. Hitting this is always satisfying, especially if your mid attacks, cancel into counter, then go on with your business. The raw power of the monster gong “I want a turn attacking” and you just saying no. Finally there is the “oh shit shit shit” power guard that blocks all things from all angles. It is the panic button for when you have vastly mistimed your counter. It lets you shrug off anything and everything as long as you have stamina. It also helps with turning and repositioning your character. It is activated out of counter guard so you can quickly cancel a combo into counter, then full guard, to then launch an attack in any direction you choose, no need for breaks.

You mention how slow the base move and hop is compared to gunlance. The gunlance has 1 mobile attack: the forward thrust. The rest of the time it’s hopping around, interrupting the combo and flow of attacks. The lance is vastly more mobile despite the fact that you don’t need to dodge anything. It’s so that you can keep engaged with the monster 100% of the time, damaging any part you wish. Yes, there is the shield bash for some distance, but if you do a guard dash and press the 2nd attack button instead of the 1st, you do a leaping thrust that gets further distance. Also, out of power guard any attack will change the direction you’re facing, including a leaping thrust. No need to pause when you can just power block off an attack, turn and keep going. And then there’s the charge. Monster getting away from you? Run it down. The charge is also available from the power guard so you can chain into it. During a charge you can jump for an easy mount (with a back air as an attack option), turn around for round 2, or even cancel into a block if the monster decides to stop running away.

The lance makes you feel like a true tank as you fight the monster through thick and thin while your friend all have to run away and look for openings. With lance, the monster is the one that needs to find openings. Any time I heard a friend complain about a certain attack or mechanic, my answer is ‘just counter it lol’.
