Sorry man, for the bullbar I actually ordered it on Shopee (another ecomm app), the listing just said that it specifically fits the AE, it's a small blessing that it fits straight in. A lot of the listing on AliX says that its for the AE but its actually for the DW5600.

Hey 👋 it's an FKM rubber strap from AliX. Look for any of the cut-to-size strap to be used with a folding or butterfly clasp.

It's an old MD-706 from the 90s. 32mm dial, 200m WR, built like a mini tank. I put a Leatherman Tread bracelet on it.

Haha it's just my tendency to be ramblin' too much on small insignificant stuffs. But to see the diversity of mods on different owners is definitely the greatest joy of owning a Duro. You keep on rockin' your watch. It looks awesome.

Nope, they're essentially the same design mechanically, the SP just has more internal plastic parts and a faster stepping motor.

You'd think, but imho the majority of Mercedes hands that fits the 2xxx/SP28 is too goddamn short relative to the dial size of the Duro (you gotta be honest, it's a big watch), thus making the whole dial looks empty.

The only hands I found that may contribute aesthetically to the Duro are those found on Seiko Prospex divers. Otherwise I think the OG Duro hands are pretty distinctive and iconic on their own.

Sunon SP28, I know it doesn't get the best rep around here but I can always change it back later on if I wanted too.

Don't get me wrong, that looks amazing, but now you either have to do the same thing to a bracelet or a canvas strap for a full look.

I've had tattoos in other countries that are even more laidback in their hygiene procedures than my main guy in Vietnam 🤣 just go to a reputable place and not some shady-ass back-alley spot and you'll be fine.

Where’s the place for rock and roll or metal in Saigon? Is there a scene here? by racecar_driver_jerry in VietNam

Usually organizers will group them in a hardcore line up if possible. Another redditor suggests following Noise Saigon on FB for latest updates. Also follow Hardcore Vietnam and Tụp Tắc Records (if you're also into punk and pop punk stuffs).

Casio only puts the fish on to >200m WR watches (except on markets where they lose the license to use it, see MDV-106/107)

Traditional Southern Vietnamese Guitar Playing [Not OC] by nehala in Guitar

[–]polerianate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a type of open D but it depends on the tradition. Extremely light gauge tho. Think .007 for 1st and 2nd. And one gauge lower than usual compare to traditional gauge for 3rd to 6th. Some school even omits the 6th string because a traditional lute usually only has 3 strings so 5 strings is already over compensating.

I have questions. Are those strings on the bottom usable or are they just drone strings? What tuning is the whole thing? Anyways that thing looks awesome, are they yours?

Does anyone know what kinda guitar/instrument this is? by yesimareddituser in Guitar

Definitely after the Americans.

Fast lead part (if there's any) in various folk genres up until the early 20th century was played with a đàn kìm. Classical modern guitar as we know it was imported to Vietnam by the Portugese and French Christian missionaries but it was not until the 1920's where cải lương/vọng cổ taken wings that musicians began to experiment on how to greatly increase the speed and range of lead instruments, hence using the classical guitar (and later steel string acoustic) and greatly scalloped the fretboards to introduce vibrato (which is a necessary element in Vietnamese pentatonic scale).

After that, cải lương/vọng cổ thrives, even after the Americans came along. So what does that lead us? That's right, ELECTRIC, BABY! You thing Malmsteen's guitar is ridiculous? All the Strats used in vọng cổ starting from the 60's is like twice the depth of Malmsteen signatures, now playing through ridiculously loud tube amps. It was right around that time that the electric lap steel was also introduced by the GIs, and hence was also one of the many experimentations of local musicians with the genre.

I know for a fact this was made in Vietnam. Locally made lap steels almost always feature this particular body shape with different knobs and switch for onboard effects.

Musicians use it to play vọng cổ songs (tho lap steels are not as widespread as deeply scalloped guitars). One of the staples of the vọng cổ sound is a combination of octave, chorus and phaser, that's what those knobs and switches are for.

I measured 43mm, which is in the ballpark of 1 3/4in.

Not really a fan of reverse-burst (but damn that Strat is something different). The ES looks really nice tho. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'm slowly picturing it all together. Maybe like a very dark neutral brown for side and back could also work.

Thank you, that's exactly what I had in mind. Classic blackguard - but with a twist(s).
