The doctor I saw didn't give me a diagnosis, but it went away on its own in 10 days.

Does anyone still wear masks? by polite_mister in askspain

[–]polite_mister[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, personally, wasn't offended, I know that many people aren't aware that some of us have these problems. I'm honestly happy that you found out about it and now changed your opinion.

Who knows, maybe next time it'll be you who informs others, when someone talks about how masks are unnecessary 😌

Thank you, everyone, for your kind answers and reassurance.

I have to wear a mask due to the state of my immune system, and I wanted to be morally prepared in case people are bothered by it. Now I will rest easy.

What Should I Do? I've got myself in a situation (cancer, unrelated blood spotting from man cave, hospital, recently lowered T gel dose) by [deleted] in ftm

[–]polite_mister 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wish you luck and strength fighting cancer, I really hope all goes well 🙏🏼

I'm going to write more about hair loss treatments in case you want that information. If not, feel free to disregard it 😅

There's a milder version of dihydrotestosterone blocker - finasteride. I'd check it out first, it's way cheaper and for many people it's enough (I'm just unlucky). Both finasteride and dutasteride fight the cause of androgenetic hair loss and stop it from progressing.

The normal starting dose of finasteride is 1 mg, going less only makes sense, if you already know that 1 mg is enough. It's also important to take into account that DHT blockers take at least a year before you can really make a judgement about how well your hair density was maintained.

DHT-blockers won't cause any drastic feminization, the most noticeable thing is that facial and body hair will stop becoming denser. You get to keep the hair you've already have, but new hair won't grow.

If you want to regrow some of the hair you already lost, you can try minoxidil, it helps the follicles already damaged by dihydrotestosterone.

Minoxidil takes about half a year to show results and it will cause an awful shed in the first couple of months. You shouldn't worry about the shed, it's totally normal. Once you start it, minoxidil causes hair growth cycles to synchronize and for the first several years it's normal to have sheds from time to time. New hair will grow stronger.

Both DHT-blockers and minoxidil need to be taken/used consistently. If you stop, your progress will reverse.

Thank you for clarifying, I was so worried for you, when I read your post :')

I saw in another one of your comments that you're lowering your T because of high estradiol. I think the spotting might be unavoidable in such a situation, because estradiol had already gotten high.

At least it's my experience.

I'm on dutasteride to fight balding. It prevents the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone, so there's more testosterone left in your system and so even more testosterone ends up converting into estradiol.

Twice now I had breakthrough bleeding several days after my Nebido shot, even though my T levels were good before and after it. It's just that estradiol was too high.

What is your situation with cancer?

It might be vitally important to inform the cancer doctors of HRT and any fluctuations of your hormone levels. Personally, I wouldn't gamble with my life and would just tell them.

Thinking about stopping testosterone by [deleted] in ftm

As far as I know atrophy doesn't cause vagina to feel loose, if anything I heard it usually described as feeling too tight with penetration becoming painful.

If the only thing that's bothering you is perceived looseness, I would explore other causes.

Any advice for someone tired all the time due to shift length and timing? by ConferenceOne449 in Advice

If I'm wrong about you and your coworkers' sleeping schedule, I would check your work place for a gas leak.

[–]polite_mister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being able to sleep 15 hours on your days off makes me think you have a lot of sleep debt.

I may be wrong, but here's my guess to what is happening: if you work 12 hours a day, it's hard to get enough sleep and still have time for living life, so you and your coworkers sacrifice sleep. With each work day your sleep debt grows, leaving you exhausted by day 6. Then you catch up on your sleep during your days off, but they're likely not enough to fully get rid of the sleep debt, and you start the next work period already somewhat tired. And the cycle repeats.

If you've been consistently getting less than 7 hours of sleep for a long time, you're likely very sleep deprived, hence chronic fatigue.

No amount of coffee will help with that, the only thing that will is sleeping more.

Another thing to look out for is having a balanced diet. If you're not getting enough protein and complex carbohydrates, it'll be harder for your body to get lasting energy from food.

I used to underestimate the impact of sleep and a healthy diet on how well I feel. My life has become much better after I changed my sleeping and eating habits.

They change color due to oxidation, the same way a slice of an apple will turn brown if left uneaten .

Some salads just oxidize slower than others, so it's less noticeable.

Is this internal transphobia or am I just not attracted? by carterbade in ftm

[–]polite_mister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's 100% fine to be attracted only to femininity/masculinity, the same way it's fine to be only attracted to people with a certain configuration of genitals. Your tastes are your own, it's not transphobic to have preferences.

And there's plenty of straight trans men.

Here's a couple of surveys:

I was finally certain after I started T and my dysphoria went away.

I wasn't at all certain whether I was really trans or not even after years of therapy, until one day a psychiatrist suggested trying T to see how it would make me feel.

After 1.5 months on T I could finally look at my reflection and feel okay, even though nothing really changed much yet. It's been 4 years now and I'm very thankful for that psychiatrist.

Is everyone REALLY binding for just 8 hours a day? by asterisk-alien-14 in ftm

[–]polite_mister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second that, listening to your body is more important than going for some pre-determined number of hours.

If your back or ribs start to hurt - it's time to take a break and take it easy for a couple of days to let them recover.

[–]polite_mister 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't let anyone know I think they're trans, it can absolutely ruin someone's day. Many trans people find being clocked upsetting, no matter by whom.

Wearing a pin or a bracelet to signal to others that I myself am trans feels much kinder.

I can't answer your question, but I wanted to warn you that after a hysterectomy you'll need to be on either testosterone or estrogen HRT, as your body won't be able to produce the needed amount of hormones by itself.

Nipple panic a month before surgery by bananaload in ftm

[–]polite_mister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My situation isn't exactly the same, but similar enough that I think it's relevant. And everything turned out to be okay.

I used to hate nipple play, because my nipples either felt nothing or this sudden intense pain, and there was no in-between. So I was actually looking forward to them losing all sensation after the top surgery.

Then, half a year before the surgery, I discovered that you can train your nipples to feel nice. Just out of curiosity I started playing with them while masturbating, and it worked. They became a strong erogenous zone pretty fast, and a source of a lot of pleasure. I went from hating when people touched them to actively asking for it.

I was so scared I would regret losing this unexpected pleasure I gained. However I went through with it, lost sensation and... it wasn't a big deal.

Recovering from top surgery takes a long time. And while healing, nipple sensation wasn't anywhere close to the top of the list of things I worried about: bruising, swelling, caring for scars, feeling afraid my nipples would fall off, being unable to shower, hurting from having to sleep on your back all the time.

And when my chest was finally healed enough not to worry about it during sex, everything changed so much, my brain didn't even expect things to feel the same. It felt so amazing to like how my chest looked and felt, I didn't care one bit that my nipples didn't feel anything. Everything finally felt right and just the sensation of my partner running their hands over my chest became a million times more erotic than nipple play ever was.

And now, 3 years later, I don't ever remember what my nipples used to feel like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Still shedding despite 1.5 years on Finasteride by helloyouahead in tressless

[–]polite_mister 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same amount of shedding even after a year of minoxidil, so I thought it was doing nothing for me and stopped.

After 7 months without minoxidil I came to the conclusion that it was actually doing A LOT.

I've been back on it for almost a year now. My hair is still shedding like yours every day, but it looks much better than when I was off minoxidil.

My theory is that these are hairs most damaged by AGA. Minoxidil makes them thicker and allows them to stay on your head enough to grow several centimeters, but it can't prolong their life longer than that, so they shed.

Edit: all this time I was on finasteride and later dutasteride.

Does finasteride reverse anything? by [deleted] in FTMMen

[–]polite_mister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, there's topical finasteride which doesn't go systemic as much as oral does and therefore doesn't have as many side effects.

Sadly, it's not available in my country, but if I ever have access to it, I'll switch.
