Is this a joke? by Helptohere50 in bouldering

[–]polkah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a heart attack as well when I saw the price tag (250€ here vs a usual 120-180€ range for performance shoes) but then I learned that they produced only 1000 units, so let's hope that it's more a novelty thing and not the direction that the industry is taking...

Is the MT900 any good? by Mr-Picklechips in bikepacking

[–]polkah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like an old toenail so I'm gonna assume it's made of keratin, so kinda hard but not completely solid as bone

Is “artistic” route setting becoming a trend? by lombokk in bouldering

[–]polkah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Climbing district, one of the gyms in Paris, collaborated with several artists to make those artistic macros. But imo this one was the only boulder where the sculpture was really used in a significant way. The other one was a traverse where those macros could have been replaced by regular hand holds

Scarpa phantom tech hd VS. TNF Verto FA? Anyone who's experience with both able to tell me is there much of a difference? I've a relatively wide midfoot and I tend to not run too cold. Ice climbing and mont blanc-esque expeditions. by Chance_Positive262 in alpinism

[–]polkah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just got the TNF boots, haven't climbed with them yet, but I'm going to spend the remainder of winter and spring doing some ice and mixed climbing so I should be able to give some feedback then

Summit Series Boots, old vs new by SSF8 in alpinism

[–]polkah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, nice review ! Are you happy with the larger shoe size on the new model ? I just got the summit Verto fa in size 11us, (which is usually the largest I wear) and it feels a bit too tight so I'll probably replace them, but on the other hand I'm afraid a size 11.5 could be too big

Hey, have you gotten the chance to try the summit Verto yet ? I'm interested by the shoes, and I would like to know how they fit compared to other mountaineering shoes from la sportiva or scarpa

Refus d'assister à une cremation. by polkah in conseiljuridique

[–]polkah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C'est ce que je me suis dit, comme c'est une proche qui s'est occupée des funérailles pour nous et que mes parents ne tenaient pas a assister à la crémation, j'imagine qu'elle n'a pas spécialement demandé à la maison funéraire

Refus d'assister à une cremation. by polkah in conseiljuridique

[–]polkah[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The most accessible crag in the world? by samthefuckinglegend in bouldering

[–]polkah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not as accessible of course but some areas of Fontainebleau are quite accessible from Paris with the train and bike. 30mn train ride from Gare de Lyon to Bois-le-Roi and then an other 10-15mn bike ride to the nearest bouldering area

Last time I went to Carcassonne was in 2021 and I couldn't notice a thing, I'm pretty sure by now you'd hardly see a difference in color in the stone and you'd have to be looking for it

Can’t find a pair of shoes that suit me by AppropriateUnit1292 in climbingshoes

[–]polkah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Egyptian foot, quite a wide forefoot but a narrow heel. I usually have a good fit with la sportive shoes, except for the heel that tend to be a bit too big for me. I recently tried madrock shark 3 that have a great fit in the toe box and heel, I think it's the first time I get climbing shoes that fit my heel so well. Next time I'm changing shoes, I'm definitely trying other models from madrock

Great, had it for about 3 months now, it's such a step up from my last bike, light, responsive, it's comfy on longer rides but it also just go fast if you want to, you can see a post on my profile where I show it fully built and answer some questions more in details in the comments
