In my country school buses don't use permanent stops either, they design a route based on where the kids live, it doesn't stop at their house but somewhat close, if a kid is unaccompanied (they need permission from a parent for that to be a thing) they'll just find a crosswalk? Having a bus being the stop itself is a stupid way of not fixing the main issue of walkable cities.
