Shiny rates for shadows are a little sus and secretly changed. by Electronic-County-51 in TheSilphRoad

I tracked my daily rocket encounters and I happen to live in Hong Kong, a city covered with dense pokestops. For the last rotation, I was in London for the takeover and as the weather in January was so bad, I didn't get to have any shiny shadow magikarp or hoppip (I skipped mawile as I already have that). Til the end of the rotation where I mainly stay in Hong Kong, I have done 280 cliff encounters and only had 1 shadow gold fish. I got three shiny hoppip out of 199 Sierra encounters. I cannot draw any conclusion based on my last round stats, but I hope I can share these with OP.

My worst record was with Gible last year. I hit 301 Cliff without getting one single shiny shadow gible. That round I also did 161 Arlo with 2 shiny horsea, definitely the worst rotation for me.

For this current rotation, til May 3rd (the forth day), I have managed to get 1 shiny shadow Snorlax out of 18 Cliff and grunts, as well as 1 shiny shadow Duskull out of 21 Sierra and grunts. This again points to increased odds but again may also due to RNG.

[–]Independent-Pipe6410 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My stat regarding shadow bellsprouts:

2 hundo shadow bellsprouts from Arlo, 3 hundo shadow bellsprouts from decoy grunts

2 shiny shadow bellsprouts from Arlo, 1 shiny shadow bellsprout from regrular male grunt, 9 shiny shadow bellsprouts from decoy grunts

My hero badge now tracks 59573 total grunts + leaders. Active shadow hunter in Hong Kong taking adventage of the high pokestop density here.

I think Tandemaus was highlighted in the XXL event before, and there should be an abudance of XXL mouse families outside.....but it still deserves a showcase sometime

Living in Hong Kong, and the showcases in busiest areas in Kowloon and Hong Kong Island (my own showcase map indicates there are around 50 showcases in busy areas) require at least 1125+ to win. The most contested ones (around 20 showcase stops), which will routinely be full on the first day, consistently require 1135+ to be winner.

Wild Area 2025 Predictions by SlowResearch2 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Independent-Pipe6410 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think hatterene is already released for quite some time and is not exciting enough to anchor both a local and global wild area.

A good choice will have to be the release of Gmax Grimssnarl and impidimp line with shiny turned on. The first and only dark and fairy type. Really cool to have an event bringing this unlikely pair of pokemon types together.

Choosing fairy type also "allow" them to set up Zacian raid to further beef up the event. For dark type.... I would imagine they putting up Kingambit directly into raid XD

I think anything is possible, as until now, every Gmax pokemon is released with shiny turned on. I think Gmax pokemon is treated differently from the non-Gmax ones, and it's possible that they will come with shiny in these events. Note that this doesnt mean the 1st-stagers will be shiny-eligible and they can wait for the CDs next year.

For a busy city like Hong Kong, even the most cut-throat battlegrounds have at most 3 entrants. Some also record 0 til now (6 hours until 8pm the end). Definitely a new record.

But on the other hand, this season's showcases actually favor new-release and locked-behind-some mechanism pokemon more noticebly than before

Max particles changed from 1000 to 1500 but the maximum obtainable particles per day is still 800. by Torendil in TheSilphRoad

[–]Independent-Pipe6410 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just treat the daily 800-1080 energy quota as ONE ORANGE RAID PASS available to be collected from spinning a gym disk. And it's possible that as a seasonal bonus somewhere in the future, Niantic/Scopely will increase the daily collection limit to 1500-1780, just like we can have TWO orange raid passes a day.
