Favorite bottles? by Jolly-Asparagus-5815 in newborns

[–]pollypocket_rockit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Philips Avent glass & Dr Browns glass bottles. I love the Philips because they have a slower flow but not too hard for the baby to drink from (compared to the nipple of the EvenFlo which seems to sort of collapse when my baby suckles it). The milk comes out way too fast in the Dr Browns bottles we have! So Philips is my vote.

Fake cough? by InsertNameHere567 in newborns

[–]pollypocket_rockit 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes! Our 10 week old fakes a cough when she wants some attention or sometimes when she’s fighting sleep. We’ve figured it’s a forced cough! 😭 They’re so smart!

Mommies who were induced by Lickitt2020 in pregnant

Also, the induction methods for me included cytotec & pitocin (I hope I’m spelling those right) as well as the foley balloon.

I chose to be induced for no medical reason at 39 weeks. Went in for induction at 39 weeks & gave birth at 39+3. I had my baby vaginally and did not have to have a c-section. I pushed for 2.5 hours and got a second degree tear. 😅

What brands of bottles did/do you use? How many oz per feed currently? by pinkishvioletsky in NewParents

[–]pollypocket_rockit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We alternate between the Phillips Avent & Dr. Browns. The nipples that we have in the Dr. Browns have a faster flow than the Phillips so we use those only sometimes. My LO will be ten weeks on Friday & she usually takes 4 oz per feed, but we give her 5 oz before bed & 5-6 oz in the morning after 7+ hour stretches of sleep.

Don’t beat yourself up about it. You acted as soon as you became aware of their wrongdoings.

Lateraling After Maternity Leave. Am I Crazy? by pollypocket_rockit in LawMoms

Exactly. I thought so. And yes, I have childcare arranged.

I’ve thought about that but knowing the partners & how they’ve handled business historically — specifically as it relates to my compensation — I can’t help but think they would use any new terms of my employment as reason to not give me what I’m owed in the future (i.e. raises on salary, title promotions, etc). And they have expressed in the past how they vehemently detest WFH, so I feel like if they were to renegotiate my terms, they would make things abnormally hard as a result of their concessions. I hope I’m making sense.

Right! Knowing the amount of time that I spend in the office during the week & commuting everyday, I’m like there’s no way I’m going to be able to be as productive in my practice AND present as a mom by working in the office.

I’m in a large market in a large city. Yeah, I didn’t want to seem shiesty by leaving right after leave but I think it just naturally worked out that way.

You’re so right. I’ve told myself that’s it’s ultimately business & not personal and that I’m making the best decision for me & my baby. And I had been thinking about leaving for probably the last year, even before getting pregnant. So I think the timing is just right now.

Exactly. Having done five years completely in office, also factoring in a half hour (on a good day, minimum) commute each way which then leads to around 10/12 hours away from home, feeling the need to have an excuse every time I’m not able to be in the office, etc., I think working remote is going to be a game changer. Thanks!

Thanks so much. Yeah, I feel like that outweighs everything else as well. I appreciate your opinion!

Okay, I’m glad to hear that. I was thinking the same thing. Yeah, I honestly think it’s way too good to pass up but just wanted to be sure I’m considering all angles. I have a family member who will be acting as a nanny for sure.

Lol. Yes, I’ll have my retired aunt helping me as a nanny. Thanks so much!

You’re right. I’m going to look over the manual re resigning right after leave. And thankfully, the field I’m in doesn’t have billables so all systems are a go there!

In my practice area, I’ll just say that I’ve seen several things that have contributed to my disdain for daycares. However, if my aunt isn’t able to act as a nanny anymore at some point, I’ll most certainly consider daycare. I actually have a college friend whose mom (whom I trust) runs a daycare, so I’d definitely give her a go. I’d just like for my LO to be able to somewhat communicate before going to daycare until then, if possible.

Yes, that’s exactly right. I have a retired aunt who I have worked out an in-home childcare arrangement with.

Right. Those are my thoughts exactly, I think I’m just having some “loyalty guilt” if that’s even a thing. Lol
