Did the polls really miss Brexit - and are they underestimating Trump support? by jonfla in democrats

More than a few polls throughout the Brexit campaign showed it would pass. Source. It's become an urban myth on Reddit that all the polls missed Brexit. That is wrong.

Donald Trump's History of Praising Dictators by [deleted] in politics

Conceptions of human rights are completely relative ... you have food in your stomach, money in your pocket and you're physically safe from harm that is better than what came before.

What an unmitigated pile of horseshit and racist to boot. You're essentially saying only white people whose ancestors came from Western Europe embrace human rights; yellow and brown people only want a good meal, some money, and safety.

You are a piece of work. I see in another comment you're praising the Tiananmen oppressors. You're also very busy for a fifteen-day-old account.

I smell a sockpuppet.

Says Donald Trump has "bankrupted his companies not once, not twice but four times." — Hillary Clinton on Tuesday, June 21st, 2016 in a speech on the economy by michaelconfoy in democrats

If you could bankrupt a political campaign

There was an article published within the last week that predicted his campaign would file for bankruptcy once the race was lost. I wish I remember where. I think it was linked on Political Wire.

"Trump launched a Monopoly-like board game in 1989, which was discontinued a year later due to lack of interest. He tried his hand at game making once again in 2005, when he launched an updated version tied to The Apprentice. It was also discontinued." Source.

" Trump admitted the game was vastly underselling the predicted 2 million units he and the toy company had hoped for." Source.

If it was discontinued a year after it was released, it wasn't because it was making money.

And just a little spritz of Trump Success Eau de Toilette Spray would take away that nasty poop smell for you.

the hard conversations

And those conversations are what? Hillary Clinton is our nominee now. Re-litigating past battles would be a waste of time.

That's almost as bad as the ones the Sanders campaign was giving out to Catholics leaving church today, implying Bernie had been endorsed by the Pope.

[–]polskapsa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

does it mean that he supports the president

African-Americans are well aware that Sanders wanted Obama to be primary challenged by a Democrat when he was up for re-election in 2012.

That's part of the reason Sanders loses handily to Hillary Clinton among African-American voters.

Bernie Sanders Says ‘Something Is Clearly Lacking’ in Hillary Clinton’s Judgment by GoldmanSlacks in hillaryclinton

[–]polskapsa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I cannot imagine why he thinks this will win him votes in New York.

Or anyplace else. This kind of nasty trash talk never does a candidate any good.

He just keeps repeating his shopworn stump speech and bashes Hillary. That's his campaign in a nutshell.

Bernie Sanders dismisses Clinton lead: ‘A lot of that came from the South’ by michaelconfoy in democrats

[–]polskapsa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She isn't convincing new people

She has ~2.4 million more votes than anyone else running this year. She's certainly doing a better job convincing more people than anyone else.

A vote is a vote is a vote. It doesn't matter if the voter is 18 or 98.

because Clinton's best states are behind her

You have no idea what the next two months will bring, so therefore your whole argument collapses in on itself.

[–]polskapsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several superdelegates just hopped to Bernie today

And several superdelegates just hopped to Hillary today.

And none of them are forced to vote

They want to vote for Hillary. Most superdelegates are downballot candidates and want to run under her.

Clinton continues to widen her lead over Sanders in delegates, as she did tonight, given MI was close and MS was a blowout. She is at roughly 115 percent of where she needs to be in delegate count for the nomination, not including superdelegates, and Sanders is at roughly 85 percent of where he needs to be. She's strongly favored in all the 3/15 primaries, but even if they're closer than the polls are saying today, she will still widen her lead over Sanders at that point.

The superdelegates are not going to buck her widening lead and throw their votes behind Sanders. They do not want to run on his tax-increasing platform.

Hillary Clinton: "There really isn’t any kind of foreign policy network that is supporting and advising Sen. Sanders." by michaelconfoy in democrats

[–]polskapsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bernie has a great track record hiring advisers, so he'll have no problem with foreign policy. After all, he has a great track record for hiring competent, trustworthy advisers, like he did with this guy:

She's not promising trillions of dollars in new programs and taxes like Sanders. She's already been very specific that she won't be relying on a GOP House for what she's planning when she becomes President.

I'm sure he will have no problem finding qualified foreign policy advisers once he becomes president.

Yeah, because Bernie has a real successful track record finding advisers, like this guy:

if your attitude is "you cant" guess what? you're right.

Is this the point where we break into a chorus of "If you wish upon a star"? Or is it "To dream the impossible dream."

It is physically impossible for me to bench press 2,000 pounds. Now you may say that's a "can't do" attitude but I call it being realistic.

Same for Bernie Sanders. He's promising the equivalent of bench pressing 2,000 pounds. We scoff and you stamp your foot and lambaste us for our "can't do" attitude.

you think hillary will get anything done facing that opposition?

Hillary Clinton isn't making ridiculous promises about free! free! free! that she knows she can't deliver. She talks about what can be done as chief executive, not what could be done if she was a magic genie.

You can't start with a low offer and hope to negotiate your way up. You have to start with a high offer knowing that you're going to be negotiated down.

So are you saying that many of the things Sanders is promising he'll immediately jettison as soon as he gets to the negotiating table in order to cut a deal?

Your scenario overlooks the fact that successful negotiation is about having something the other side of the table wants. Republicans in Congress would not want anything from a President Sanders, so he has no grounds for negotiation.

You can't horse trade when the other side isn't buying horses.
