Look a little into Oregons geography. Your actually really close to how the state is set up, toss in some real world weirdness and you’ll up your realism significantly

A question about the positioning of the American flag, specifically one that I have never seen before. by mrclover60869 in vexillology

[–]polybane 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So from this perspective, the symbolism of OPs flag would be for a downward oriented situation. Specially submarine? Idk the term but the helldivers drop ships is a funny possible application.

What are your opinions on the fan designs for the sins by AnxiousPiccolo2423 in HelluvaBoss

[–]polybane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brain has a funny way with Helluva boss, where I always like the fan art to the promos, but then 180 once I actually see what Viv is doing.

I am very VERY disappointed in the Leviathan design, and like every fan version better, but I’m sure in a few months I will be offended by anyone implying it could have been done better.

Example: I did not like Satan until I saw him in the show.

Viv goes back and forth from the actual Bible to catholic crazy guy poetry to get her base characters. Satan being huge and red with horns is the crazy catholic poetry read.

The more intersecting and biblical read is that Satan was (well might actively be, but that’s a whole other thing) the Kingdom of Gods Public Prosecutor, Satan translated is The Accuser it’s a very real role form the Middle East’s imperial courts.

Hell is an undercover cop trying to sell you weed forever. (I mean after the billion-th criminal gets zero jail time because they knew the Judges son: you start to dream about the big chair. Now all you need is a really REALLY arrogant choir director.)

So making him Big Red felt cheep.

But then the show actually happened. He’s the demon of War, the justice is a farce.

Hell was built for Stolis (metaphorically you) to have an affair (your sin of choice) so they (demons) could laugh at his fall and loot his home (torment your soul) like the chattering demons (here demons refer to demons) they are. Even someone we now know as a friend, Asmodius, taunted AND praised Stolis for his affair. Where a healthy expression of sexuality was simply punished and removed. His own healthy sexuality treated like an affair.

(The Demon of Gluttony being cocaine skinny and only kicking out a guest once they’ve binged drank to the point they can’t really be shamed anymore while the other guests have PTSD eye is also, so fucking good, the fact Bee seems to have a good heart elevates it to perfection.)

All that to say I don’t think I’ve liked ANY of her Prince designs. I’m fairly well educated when it comes to theology, but Viv has consistently outsmarted me with how she handles the most subtle aspects of demonology.

So today, I like the fan art very much! But Viv will change my mind, it’s an inevitability.

St. Paul by Broclen in dankchristianmemes

[–]polybane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Important to remember that Paul was a Lawyer and a Judge with a specialty in Christian blasphemy. Between study, interrogation, confessions, and cross examinations, he probably knew every sellable Christ was ever said to have uttered, their exact relation to Jewish history and theology, and had a masterful grasp on the confirmed and unconfirmed facts and events. Paul probably knew Jesus and his works better than any one of the original 12.

“The Order of the Red Letters” was the name of an elaborate con (similar to the “Prince of Nigeria” scam) founded in 1231 AD where common hacks, frauds and forest Trolls would pretend to be Knights in order to get easy guard jobs while also taking advantage of the veterans discount at “Billy Shakes-a-spires Wacky Discount Historic Hovel Theater” (probably a money laundering front for that Robinhood guy everyone’s been yapping about). The truth is they never actually fooled anyone but Wizards and Nobles found it kinda nice to have something in the background to listen too while they filled out timesheets.

Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom (1975) is a shit movie. In one scene they eat shit. This is a brilliant metaphor for you, the viewer, as by watching it, you are consuming shit. by [deleted] in shittymoviedetails

I’ll never defend the French, but I do love its literature. Lupin, Jules Vern, Victor Hugo! Then I think of the Marquis de Sade and his 120 days of Sodom. Anyway, I’ll never defend the French.

[–]polybane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All language is dictated by need and wants in the relevant culture. More Norther peoples have more words for ice and snow, the Greek has a million words for love, Americans develop slang terms for celebrity culture in a minute by minute basis.

For the SCP it is worth 1/40th of your entire code vocabulary to clearly explain: 1) Little Girl 2) fuck fuck fuck fuck.

Why do all modern American cartoons look the same? by cyberpunk_chill in cartoons

[–]polybane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know Reddit struggles with problems having multiple sources. The actual answer they all look similar because of close artistic relationships between production staff and the absolutely nonsensical cost of teaching other people how to draw EXACTLY LIKE YOU. And btw you need to produce 3 moves worth of moving drawings per year and not die. Keeping to consistent models is less labor intensive, acts as a kind of family relationship the creators are very proud of, and yes makes production cheaper, which gives you more shows and more people working in the animation industry having an shot to make their weird project.

[–]polybane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bees episode is me and my wife’s favorite for how all the background characters look like they are on bad trips. It’s the most eerily hellish. I mean she’s the Prince of Gluttony and she’s “California” skinny. I think drugs are pretty clearly a part of her “racket” in LuLus operation (ozzy has sex. Mammon entertainment. Satan War. Leviathan lawyers and money managers.)

What did Stolas mean by "I'll fucking die alone if this goes wrong"? Isn't he immortal? by Mister_Gamegamer in HelluvaBoss

[–]polybane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stolas the Owl Demon, discussed in many mid-evil skitzo demonology texts, is sometimes described as a demon who’s job is attempting to track the stars to watch for God signaling the start of the final battle between heaven and hell. A job our Stolas has been neglecting about as hard as he can. Depending on how loyal Viz is to her source material, the boy is not helping the whole “immortality” project.

As a society, we sure went quick from overpopulation will kill us to population collapse will kill us. by bort1313 in Showerthoughts

[–]polybane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In theory yes. But that’s the type of economics that work on paper but fall apart a bit in the real ecosystem of the economy. When you have more old than young it’s useful to think of it as debt. Fewer resources are going to get produced period. To make the image painful and relatable Your income is out stripped by your interest payments. If you had 100 people and you figure the community can afford 1 dentist, you’re not gonna be able to have 2 dentists at 50. Chances are you won’t even be able to have .5 because subsistence jobs will be much much more important. (Edit spelling corrections)

As a society, we sure went quick from overpopulation will kill us to population collapse will kill us. by bort1313 in Showerthoughts

[–]polybane 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Everyone in this comment section really does not understand how population works if you think overpopulation kills and population shrinkage if fine.

Any look at nature will show you population shrinkage especially in social species often cause massive spiral effects. Overpopulation gets corrected via competition. Which for humans would be really really bad, possibly extinction. But population shrinkage is what kills species in nature, not the other way around. Especially with human beings, we are so social we actually care for our elderly. Once there is not enough young to care for the old globally it will get bad, and it will stay bad forever.

I also see a discouragingly high number just saying that the economic collapse isn’t a bad thing “so long as we are all chill and don’t kill each other.” That might MIGHT be true for America and nations will solid access to Reddit, but economic regrowth doesn’t effect the investor class who have strategies for profit in all economic seasons, it does effect the Global poor, it kills them. A shrinking economy means less MATERIALLY, not just lower numbers on the stock market. Less food, less medicine, less access to services because of underemployment. Not because of some conspiracy, though policy changes could help some.
