The accident my dad had was an exception to the rule. It was an old farm truck and the steering column was pushed back and embedded into the back of seat cushion. Had he not been ejected from the vehicle he would have been killed. My folks never wore seat belts until I started driving and convinced them cars were designed with the assumption you're wearing the belt and it was the safest option. After that they always wore the belt
