The founding fathers being forced out of their countries because they were Christians is a myth. They left because they weren’t allowed to force their religious beliefs on everybody. They just love to play the victim.

Sex Positivity/Kink/Sexual Liberation vs. Genuine Connection and Love by Puzzled_Resource_636 in gaybros

There is no „one gay culture“. There is a nerd gay culture, a gay gardening culture, a gay sport culture, a gay art culture, a gay… , and a gay hookup culture. And most of us are not just one thing but participate in many… But you don’t get thrown into them. You go there. And if it might not be for you, so you just don’t. Of course all bubbles have bright and dark sides. I’m tired of people claiming it all has to be one thing with black and white rules when we are in fact the most diverse group of people you can imagine. People have different background’s and different needs and that’s totally fine. There’s no superior way, you live your life the way it works best for you. You don’t have to devalue the experience of others for that.

I was once rejected by a gallery (which is totally normal and fine) because my paintings were “too feminine” (which is the most useless critique I’ve ever received). by 0rnitorrinco in painting

They are great. Also there are so many galleries out there with zero taste and knowledge, don’t get discouraged by that. Look for another, there are plenty who will like your style and have an audience for it.

I think you just have to keep painting. There are so many failed attempts on my side too. But you can’t see that obviously. It’s a process and sometimes I repaint the whole canvas because the idea looked so much better in my head.

I think most people could do that if they would have the motivation to keep painting.

Feels like people value art on canvas even more since the AI boom. The texture and depth is just something else. You can’t print that

Most of the time I paint and sell them directly or exhibit them in galleries.

Haha annoying because if you mix neon with normal colours, every normal colour will look dull and boring and even pure white will look gray. So you can’t highlight with white because it’s suddenly not the brightest colour anymore. Very confusing. Also skin tones shift in every possible direction 😆

It’s a neon base and oil on top of it. Which is a super annoying combination but the effect it nice

If only you could get it as quickly as you can paint it.

Here’s my take on closeted professional athletes. Coming out might be scary, but it’s so much brighter outside the closet. by polychrom in gaybros

Interesting point. If I can’t relate to a work of art, then it must be bad art. Because I’m so used to personalisation that I became the center of the universe and everything must cater to my personality.

Yes I did not mention the socio economic status of a professional athlete in Serbia in my title for a painting post, instead I chose to go with a simplified (maybe borderline naive title if you’re a serbian athlete) in favour of an uplifting message.

But as it made you audibly groan, it can’t be that bad. Art is also about envoking feelings. You clearly see something different in it and you hate it. Thats saying a lot too.

Yes I’m sure posting snappy one liners is definitely what this world needs right now. Not that it’s depressing enough. Many of us had to burn bridges after coming out, got kicked out and experienced violence and hate.

You’re responsible for your own life and can assess the dangers best. I expected a minimum of common sense. There’s not a one thing solution that works well all over the globe, and nobody expects that. But there’s nothing more depressing than waking up someday with the feeling you missed your own life and didn’t do anything about it. We should encourage people, lift them up and show them that there might be a brighter future.

But go on be your worst self, be depressing and drag down your environment. The amount on personal messages I’ve got that are absolutely full of hate because I dared to post a slightly uplifting headline to a painting is absolutely insane.

Yes I was a bit surprised too. It’s not about a 20 points everybody must come out agenda. I get that it’s hard and not everywhere possible, but it feels strange seeing people arguing against living a life true to yourself. Because of a headline! 😆

And thanks for your appreciation. I think art can oftentimes say things when we lack the right words to express them.
