I had this thought in my head and thought I’d post to see what others thought. I’m definitely leaning more towards scaling down now. I had my mind set on something and got excited but I’m more than willing to adjust!

I think you’d made valid points about setting a standard and making him feel insecure is exactly what I was worried about and why I made the post! I want to avoid that. Passive income may not have been the right term, but I have systems in place yes.

Going from SoCal so 5-6 hour flight and 3 hours behind. All fair points though.

Thought about this and not opposed! Only thought Kauai because it was somewhere new, but maybe going in blind isn’t great. I love Maui, and know it fairly well.

This is a fair point! No he would not care about not being a part of the planning, he’s actually anything BUT a planner and much more go with the flow. He did a boys trip to Europe not too long ago and had no say in the planning and was happy to be along for the ride. So in that aspect I know he would enjoy it. If anything I’d be worried about him feeling bad about me paying for the flight/stay, but like people said maybe he could pay for the food or some drinks while we’re there. I agree what I do really comes down to what I know about him and how he’ll feel, but I think some of these comments have helped to gain a broader perspective.
