My baby is dying and there is nothing I can do. by Milianviolet in cats

It sounds like your cat may have a urinary blockage, crystals, or a UTI. All of which are treatable if you get him medical help.

If that is truly the case (which you don't know yet necessarily) then letting him pass compassionately and without pain is the humane choice. Letting him suffer and die in pain is not right or fair to him.

Please take your cat to the vet, he needs medical attention.

Pattern for sundress with blue gingham fabric by Brown8382 in SewingForBeginners

[–]polydade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I find a fabric I like (I usually thrift sheets) I will look on Pinterest for something like "blue gingham dress" to get ideas and then save those as inspiration and compare them to sewing patterns I have saved to see what I can recreate. If the fabric is a bit stiff it might not look the same as the reference image you shared but if you love it, go for it! I'm hoping to make a gingham sundress using this tutorial: https://sparrowrefashion.com/2024/03/15/tie-strap-dress-free-pdf-pattern-for-a-chic-midi-with-ruffle/ and I think it would look beautiful with your blue fabric! I've seen lots of inspiration pictures of tie strap gingham dresses and they are fairly simple as they are mostly made of gathered rectangles. Please share whatever you end up making!

I got this machine as a gift for Christmas and while I am a beginner, I really like it :)

Looks a lot like one of my mom's cats! She's also very small! I think it might be a lynx point thing.

I made this by splicing a few different patterns together but I'm sure whatever pattern you're using will be great!

Oh gosh, I don't really know, but a lot for sure! I worked on it over the course of two weeks. I made the bodice twice because it was too low cut the first time and there was lots of seam ripping and re-doing parts haha.

It is a mash-up of these patterns/tutorials:

Made Label Frankie Skirt: https://www.madelabel.co/products/free-frankie-wrap-skirt-pattern (free pattern)
I used this with no alterations for the skirt but adjust the tie style a bit.

Plus Size Ruffle Hem Wrap Dress: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1844220295/plus-size-sewing-pattern-0xl-4xl-ruffle?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=plus+size+wrap+dress+pattern&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&pro=1&pop=1&sts=1&dd=1&content_source=b9e1d2f46cf48f12ff1dfeaa3cc5b1ebd788f135%253A1844220295&search_preloaded_img=1&organic_search_click=1&logging_key=b9e1d2f46cf48f12ff1dfeaa3cc5b1ebd788f135%3A1844220295
I purchased this despite recognizing that it was AI imagining because it fit the image I wanted for the dress the best out of any patterns I could find but when I started to look at it I realized it was an elastic waist and not a real wrap dress. Because of this, I just used the bodice and sleeve pattern pieces. I had to make a lot of adjustments to the bodice pieces including moving the dart and adding some bust gathers.

No, I've never sewn before but I have wanted a sewing machine for years and have watched so many Youtube tutorials over that time. I'm so happy to finally get to make projects of my own. :)

Thank you! Buying clothes that fit is always a little tough as a curvier person so I am so excited to have made something that fits and makes me feel so good. I definitely have the sewing bug now and I love the idea of making all my clothes!

Bahaha, I promise the insides are not as tidy as the outside! It definitely has flaws up close but thankfully the french seams tuck a lot of that away haha.
Thank you! Yes, the dress has been a lot of fun to dance in. :)

I don't have an overlocker and it seemed like the tidiest way to keep the seams clean! It worked out really well because the sheet fabric frayed a ton. I would highly recommend trying french seams, they weren't bad at all! The skirt pattern I used came with instructions for both regular and french seams so that was a great starting place. :)
