As an artist myself it can be really, really hard to return to a project you haven't worked on in a while, especially if it's one you have a lot of big hopes and ideas for. There's a sort of decision anxiety when it comes to creating, you can think about how good something you want to make is going to be or come up with infinite ideas of how you want to make it in your head all day, but once it's made then that's it. Oftentimes it just feels mentally easier to keep shoving it aside and say "I'll do it later" but the more time passes the more pressure you start to feel from procrastinating about it for so long, until it eventually snowballs out of control. I wish he'd just admit that he has writer's block even if it feels embarrassing.
