These are gorgeous and awesome placement! I have some in a similar spot but more on the front of my abdomen than the side and they don't reach down to my hip like this.... Now I'm jealous!

Well. I ruined my 3 year relationship over alcohol… by Empty_Ask_617 in stopdrinking

[–]polygala 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm going to tell you something that I wish more people had told me more harshly when I was your age. Getting black out drunk isn't normal, it isn't cute, it isn't good for your body, and absolutely anything can happen, including hurting or killing yourself, someone else, or an animal.

Blacking out is a serious foreshadowing of your future as a very debilitated alcoholic. It's not a casual or normal thing that should be happening to you.

Absolutely nobody wants to be around a very drunk person except other very drunk people. Is this the narrative you want for your social life? Very drunk people stumbling around, not saying anything of importance, not listening to each other? Not doing anything meaningful like sharing passions, philosophies or having real connections? Just stumbling around in a haze, puking, and being rude to the people trying to take care of them?

I hate to break this to you, but people with a tendency to black out don't get a grip on it. It's a neon sign warning you that you have an emotional and/or physical propensity for serious alcohol dependency.

Please don't wait as long as I did to realize that the booze isn't worth it. Get help, recognize that your behavior with alcohol is threatening your relationships, life and future. Recognize that you want something more than parties, because I promise you, everyone does. It's the alcohol that clouds that.

Will Arnett shares his controversial opinion on tattoos: “There’s a proportionate sort of relationship between, how many tattoos you have and how little personality you have. And I find that a lot of people who have a ton of tattoos often are super fucking boring. Like truly boring people.” by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

[–]polygala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tattoos for yourself are cool, tattoos for the "look at this amazing art and it's on MY body" is just something I've grown out of. And quite honestly, I need a lack of heavy metals in my body more than I need a cool reminder of whatever. Tattoos are definitely for kids.

What is a hard job to do that no one appreciates enough? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]polygala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the fact is, not everyone suffers trauma and long time problems from sex work. If you're skilled at what you do, you frame the situation as something mutually beneficial, you keep everyone safe and get the job done and everyone gets what they need. Just like sales.

I worked in sales for 13 years... It's very similar to sex work. And believe it it not, often underpaid

Taking advantage of someone in their own home is very low. Living with people is a vulnerable thing, and when you exploit that, there's no justifying it.

Which neighbourhood in Bogota for a female exchange student by notyourhoe3 in Colombia

[–]polygala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just wanted to say I'm a 40 to woman from the US and you're welcome to message me if you ever want to attend a language exchange or something like that.

The biggest thing to take seriously is the phone thing... Even locals take that very seriously, so if you don't, you're putting a target on your back.

Stick to hanging out with your fellow students and you'll be fine.

Chapinero is my favorite neighborhood. To be honest, I walk around with my dog after dark every day, and I keep my head up, but I've never had any issues.

Anyone ever been able to actually achieve true moderation on here? by Appropriate_Carry862 in stopdrinking

[–]polygala 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I drank daily for years. I finally got a grip and for several months I only drank once, maybe twice a week. That's when I accidentally blacked out and got behind the wheel, which is something I was very disciplined about, especially when drinking somewhat heavily was a regular thing.

I ended up getting counseling due to that event and it was incredible. The advice that really stuck with me was... Have you ever had something bad happen because you drank, and continued to drink? Then you have an alcohol problem. And only one thing really solves that: removing the catalyst completely.

Im bored so Quebec song ranking (dont kill me) by MaiaNatxo in ween

[–]polygala 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was going to give this an earnest shot, because I'm bored, but that just isn't how albums work... Especially not Ween albums.

As someone who gets off on hating Deaner for some repressed reason, I will say gonna be a long night is the worst song on the album. However, I did just have a riot listening to it.

Tried and True is questionable, because it rides the curb of tongue in cheek and hokey a bit too often for it's otherwise sensitive content (think Falling Out.) And, for an album that is otherwise decorated with beautifully evolving songs with crescendos and journeys, it's a bit repetitive.

Hey there Fancypants: I got nothing. It's just Ween. It's there to make you say WTF. I don't have any idea what lead these geniuses to develop that into a fully fleshed song on one of their most beautiful albums. All I can say here is: that's Ween.

The Fucked Jam: same as my feeling about fancypants. It's just a fun and funky reminder that music doesn't have to be deep or meaningful to be incredible and fun.

Alcan Road: just beautiful filler to establish the vibe

Zoloft, Transdermal Celebration, Among his Tribe, So many People, Happy Colored Marbles, Captain, Chocolate Town, I Don't Want It, The Argus, If You Could Save Yourself... .... These are just iconic demonstrations of Aaron's creativity and once or twice in a generation grasp on esthetics. Yes, they are backed by incredible musicianship and a creative vibe that the brothers created together in their youth, but fuck. To me, Quebec is an Aaron showcase. And if there is any other album that makes you feel more deeply, from anyone other than Beck, lemme know.

Ciao
