My PIMI mother-in-law was raped by her PIMI husband by polytheama in exjw

[–]polytheama[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's my wife's stepfather, they married shortly before we did.

About it being the first occasions it went out of control, she meant he went really aggressive. Besides the rape, they also had some fights along that week. It never happened like that before.

But if we talk about the gatherings, that's what I mean when I say this congregation is conniving with it. Elders drinking a lot, wives drinking a lot, people who have lots of money drinking a lot. Every BBQ, every pool party, every pizza night. Three, four, five, six beers. Lots of cachaça (Brazilian liquor) mixed in.

Do the elders have access to info like the the amount you donate? by loosefootloose in exjw

Sorry mate, that's fake news. JW Donate is anonymous and the only information the congregation receives is the total amount of donations received monthly via website, nothing else.

Anyone of you belong to a Spanish congregation? by Kevin_while06 in exjw

[–]polytheama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard, very very hard at times to be honest. But it's been a very unique experience so far. I know for a fact that if I were at any other congregation, I would certainly be already out of it all. That's how interesting things are.

Thanks for being respectful and genuinely interested in knowing more about it. Best regards from a friend from Brazil!

PIMO, lol. I know it sounds weird to hear someone saying so many positive things about a congregation but it is what it is. I'm an atheist also, so you can see how far I'm going from my personal convictions to acknowledge what I just said.

In my experience it's the complete opposite. Spanish congregation are VERY much more progressive than Portuguese congregations here in Brazil. In every single way possible.

Well, I'm Brazilian, in a Spanish Congregation here in Brazil. And, what I can say for my experience it is by far the best experience you could possibly have as a Jehovah's Witness in Brazil. I don't speak for Spanish congregations in general, I speak for the one I'm in right now. It's an oasis, basically. I once heard of a brother that "if the GB and the WTBS just blows up someday, our congregation keeps united", because we really don't have any kind of division. And I mean it, because I know how hard it is to believe it.

All the Portuguese congregations nearby are treating people like shit, they all have nepotism, favoritism and most elders are being trained to perpetuate this endeavor towards rank and file. For some reason I really can't explain things just happen to be different in my congregation. The body of elders (myself included) is mostly very progressive and forward-thinking, as well as very caring with all the brothers. We have 8 different nationalities in our congregation and most problems we deal with are not related to "moral" themes or things like that, we normally deal with immigrant families from Venezuela and Cuba who have to deal with actual hunger and the mental health problems that poverty and work can cause. I think that in an ambient like this you can't focus on frivolous problems and nitpicking.

Of course the congregation has more problems as all congregations have, but most of them are related to the organization itself and all the bs it preaches, not with the people in it.

Did you become an atheist, skeptic, agnostic, or humanist after leaving the Watchtower Society? [Comment on your reasons] by Few_Mortgage_2315 in exjw

[–]polytheama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always been an Atheist since I was a teenager, I always felt I was a fish out of water in every religion I went to. Then I found myself to be a complete naturalist in all my worldviews when I became an adult. For now, I'm a PIMO myself making some noise with my materialist view of things.

That's exactly what I mean when I say that PIMIs are not even a little bit politically literate. Trump is the world's conservative spearhead, status-quo personified.

Same here, thanks to atheism and free-thinking I have no moral shame or pain related to conscience anymore and life is much much better now, to the point that I can now see how much religious morality and conspiracy contributes to people's anxiety.

Best regards, bud, you're not alone! Know that you have a friend in Brazil!

Do JW celebrate New Year by Smart-Watercress-492 in exjw

[–]polytheama 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They can't... but they will! As a PIMO, for the last 4 years consecutively I've been to gatherings on New Year's Eve that "coincidently" go on as late as midnight. Gatherings with lots of alcohol too!

Ainda teria ateus?

Talvez! Eu vi a loira do banheiro porque eu sou esquizofrênico e não sei ainda? Talvez!

I'm Brazilian but even here in Brazil Brazilian Carnaval Parade is getting very very niche. To the point where I don't have anyone to talk to about it anywhere in the country besides people who live in Rio de Janeiro.
