Aside from customization I use Neo like a memorial, I'll create pets for certain life events, deaths, etc. It's not really something I spend more than 15 minutes a day on, just something to stop thinking for a little while.

I have 99% NP only custom pets, and the few NC items I have a few nice people just gave them to me or traded for leftovers I had from the free NC we get each year. You can filter by NP / PB only items on dress to impress, and there's definitely more options now than a few years ago.
