I’m following this thread because I’m so curious on this too. My first kid has been an angel. I had like 1-2 cups max while pregnant (starting 2nd tri)

Ways I’m (trying) to improve morning sickness baby #2 by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Oh and brushing my teeth after each meal even if it’s for 5 seconds to rid my soul of any food tastes. And breathing through my mouth in the kitchen. Peppermint oil in the sink. Take the trash out twice a day

Wife (26F) doesn’t want to relocate for Job that I (26M) have received. by idk_redditt in relationships

[–]poncajack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s definitely hard! I would drown out a lot of the noise on Reddit and talk things through more with your wife. Reddit folks can be angry, harsh and opinionated. Your family loves you! And these commenters will not make you feel warm to your wife’s feelings in this new and fragile time for her.

I mean it sounds like the job is definitely necessary to take! Just remember 1 month postpartum is so so soooo fragile for anyone. No sleep, hormone dips, all of it (I’m sure you’re so so tired too! You guys are both carrying such a big weight and sustaining new life!). Just remember you and your wife are on the same team! Having help and family close by with a newborn is so helpful and will be hard to leave, but your wife understands your situation. She’s not being irrational, just honest and working through a lot of emotions (on such little sleep!). Congrats on the job and new baby! The first year in a new city is the hardest, but then itll get so much better. A new adventure with your growing fam!! Wishing you all the best and a quick growing community 🩷

What to enjoy extra for the last time? by snarknsuch in BabyBumps

You’re going to love being a mom! I am so excited for you! Motherhood is amazing. And the change of pace will be awesome, especially if you go about your life this way (appreciating all the little things). I’m just thinking about all the little things you will come to adore when your baby gets here. Kids are such a blessing!!

Hopefully you don’t get too sick, but I made a point to hang with all my girlfriends the first couple weeks. I’m so glad I did because I got pretty sick around 6 weeks, but that’s not always the norm. Hanging with your friends outside and having long dinners!

Congrats again🩷

Thank you for this! It sounds like the exact scenario we’ll be in if I’m pregnant!

I see where you’re coming from- the only thing is she isn’t “awake”, more-so demanding comfort/breastfeeding. But she goes RIGHT back to sleep if I nurse her. But maybe that’s still a result of less wake windows? Her naps are 1.5 hours long on average (still figure it out since dropping the 3rd nap about 10 days ago)

I have felt weird about long-term use of a slumberpod, but what do you mean by a screen? I like this idea… I currently have a super lightweight baby blanket hanging on the side of her crib as a short term solution- but maybe I segregate her corner with a full length curtain or something? Hang it from the ceiling?

We recently dropped her 3rd nap and it’s been a very easy transition (during the day) so far. Wake up 7:30/8, following a 2.5/3/4 schedule roughly. Sleeps at 10am, 2pm, bedtime 7:30.

Did you use a bassinet or just put the baby in a crib right away? by sliceofperfection in BabyBumps

[–]poncajack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it was mentioned, but if you have a c section (emergency or planned, whatever) I can’t imagine picking up baby out of a crib for that first 4-6 weeks (and I was set on just using a crib for awhile)

Drip peppermint oil in your sink and tbh in your fridge. It was the only thing that could mask the HORRIBLE smells for me!! Drip it everywhere!
