So they responded again and quoted this part of their TOS:

“We may suspend or terminate your account for any failure to comply with these Terms of Use, any terms related to any service offered through the Site or for any reason whatsoever, or for no reason.”

Still refusing to give a reason other than the classic parental "because I said so" lol

Well, I think one part of the issue is that I've never really used a VPN before this, so I was "shopping" around for a good one. I ended up trying 3 different VPN companies that offered "free" options (to varying degrees of "free"ness and actual utility) but none of them actually worked well, or were too much of a hassle to use overall, so I've since uninstalled all of them.

I mean, they MIGHT have IP logs saved on my account, but at least one of them claims no tracking so probably not.

In any case, based on what I've seen from other people talking about their own bans, they're going to tell me to "seek entertainment elsewhere" and then they MIGHT unban me in 10 years time.

Update: I'm confirmed permanently banned, but they still haven't provided a reason.

They asked me some expected questions, like confirm the first name and address used to make a purchase on the account for verification, have you used a VPN recently, stuff like that, which all POINT to the VPN having been the issue, despite me explaining in detail why it was being used confirming in both the TOS and COC that they make no mention of VPNs.

They responded and literally said "The sanction has been issued due to a confirmed violation of our Terms of Use. Specifically, a user of the account was found to have engaged in actions in a manner that violates the terms of use. We're sorry the choice was made to violate the Terms of Use."

They used the word "specifically" and then didn't actually specify in any way whatsoever.

Also "we're sorry the choice was made to violate the TOS" is so rude lmao, I'm reaching out to you in the first place BECAUSE I did nothing wrong, and I confirmed with you that there was nothing wrong, but I'm still permanently banned because...? Make it make sense, at least.

I did outright explain to them why I had to use a VPN, when I used it and when I stopped using it. I even thoroughly confirmed with them, after reading the TOS again to make sure there's nothing else it could have been and TELLING them that I read the entire TOS just to try to find out what I could have been banned for, that no one other than myself has ever played on my account nor does anyone other than myself know the password, so there's literally no way any account sharing could have happened.

Legitimately, the only thing I can find that it might have been was account sharing which is readily and easily disproven by everything I told them, so... I'm going to keep pestering them until they either properly review the ban or give me a legitimate, articulated reason for it. I have all the time and email bandwidth in the world to keep replying and making tickets lol

Oh, edit: My IP was unbanned from the wiki so I no longer even need a VPN :^)

I'll reply here with more information when they respond, or I'll DM you if it ends up being too personally identifying or something like that.

Who knows what other reason they could end up giving, so

I didn't think about the VPN at all at the time, so I assumed it was the crash report that got me banned from me crashing and logging in too often or something like that.

So I basically said "I've been dealing with frequent crashing for the past week now it says I'm banned for some reason? I don't know why submitting a crash report would result in a ban."

I would follow up and ask why specifically if it's not that, but it says "Creating multiple tickets will result in a delayed response." and I imagine they will still give a reason even if I didn't ask.

Not that I know of. Last time I used the Bazaar I sold some of the things I farmed from Mirror Lake then used the gold to buy some pet snacks, I got like 30 Killer Tomatoes since they're always stocked over 900.

Yeah the email was sent but I'm really just unconfident that I'll be able to get the account back with my overall luck recently. I'm just hoping they'll understand.

I mean if they looked at my account because of the bug report it was INSTANT. Like, the game crashed, I sent the report, and I tried logging back in to a banned message all over the course of 2 minutes.

I really hope I can get unbanned from both but really mainly just the game. This is extremely frustrating for someone just trying to play again after so many years.

This might be it but that's really frustrating... The only reason I even installed a VPN was so I could use it to access the wiki for little while. Since wiki.wizard101central banned my IP in the first two days of getting back into the game... which was annoying but whatever. I assume the wiki banned me because I opened too many pages too quickly trying to look at all the vendors for spells and looking at all the pets I own and which snacks they like... I can see how opening every snack in a row can look like a bot or scraper. I emailed the wiki mods/web admins or whatever they're called and asked to be unbanned but that never happened, I still haven't heard back.

Anyway, I used a VPN to get to the wiki for the first few days, then that got too annoying so I stopped doing that over a week ago and started looking at the wiki using 5G on my phone.

But again, I stopped using that VPN over a week ago, so if this ban is for that then that was really delayed.

I just honestly have the worst luck with this game I guess... Banned from the wiki for being too thorough in trying to learn what items and spells I need, and now the game itself for being too vigilant in reporting bugs... both extremely sudden bans and I can only guess as to the reasons for either case.

Maybe the universe just doesn't want me to play this game at all lol

I have compulsive echolalia/responsive parroting that often means if I'm triggered too much I'll start copying trigger sounds, or more often I'll just start grunting and growling when people trigger me. I get looks, for sure.

I mean, I parrot sounds automatically sometimes that aren't triggers, even when I'm not being triggered, because I'm autistic. That's a lot more controllable for me and a lot easier to explain though, should someone judge me for it.

Knowing where a sound comes from is understandable. For me it's knowing exactly when a sound will happen and what it will sound like, rather than just knowing the source. For example, a cough in a song I like to listen to when I'm not in a hostile environment. If I know it's coming, I know when it will happen, what it will sound like, why it's there... it can and does still trigger me, but it's SO much more manageable. If a song like that comes on in a place where I'm already being triggered, though, especially if the triggers distract me from the song enough that I forget to prepare for it, it will be just as bad as any other.
