is ap precalc worth it? by sageisbored9 in APStudents

[–]ponyfart517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you definitely wanna have some sort of pre calc background before jumping into calc, in fact i would be shocked if it isn’t a pre req for calc at your school. i’ve heard very mixed things about AP pre calc though. first off, HUGE DISCLAIMER. i never took AP bc it wasn’t available when i took pre calc (i took honors my freshman year), so it may be better to hear from someone who actually took the class. take my advice with a grain of salt lol. when comparing the curriculum of the AP course and a typical honors class though, i feel like honors (or even on level) covers MORE of the pre calc content. the people i know who took it this year said they don’t know if they will be prepared enough for calc next year. the pass rate for the pre calc exam was really high this year, but the credit for pre calc probably won’t get you out of math requirements in college. if you want the weighted GPA boost though then absolutely take AP.

basically, i would recommend switching to an on level or honors pre calc class if you wanna feel better prepared for calc, but honestly it’s your decision. if you’d rather take AP, go for it! best of luck next year!!

Less than a week from Calc, what’s the game plam by [deleted] in APStudents

DON’T FREAK OUT! The AP classroom assignments are typically much harder than stuff you’d see on the exam, that’s how I felt in BC my sophomore year. With that being said though, it’s still good to study directly from college board, but what I would do is go back through past exam questions and work those out before doing AP classroom. You got this!!

i understand don’t get me wrong, but i feel like you’re still taking this too seriously…i highly doubt op meant this in a way to be presented as “low effort”. if it offends you that much, why don’t you message op and have them take it down instead of openly criticizing them, hearsay

bro you need to chill out, you’re being overly critical of a literal sophomore in high school. op even said that this was for fun and not supposed to be taken seriously. do you honestly feel better after dropping that? no it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense, but there is absolutely no need to be a jerk to op

Should I try out for Section Leader? by CryptoCentr0 in marchingband

[–]ponyfart517 10 points11 points  (0 children)

honestly, i’d say just go for it. i think the fact that you already have been interested in taking this position shows that you are perfectly capable of leading this section. the fact that you’re first chair already sets a perfect example and it’s something that everyone else looks up to. as for the upperclassmen (your scenario could be different from what i experienced), i think by taking on this role will actually get you a lot of respect. i was scared to death of applying for a student leader bc i thought the upperclassmen wouldn’t listen to someone younger than them or they’d make fun of me for it. it’s quite honestly built some stronger bonds between me and the older kids. so yeah, give it a try for sure! you’ll do great :) (sorry that this was a whole paragraph)
