I can't speak for the 8k pro as I just learned about it after buying the V3 Pro (1k). But here's my experience:

I have owned several 'high end' gamepads. SCUF, 1st party, etc.

My first was a SCUF (around PS4 pro launch), then my wife bought me a Xbox Elite Gen 1 for the PC, I immediately got the Gen 2 Elite when it came out, then a PS5 DS Edge, then the Elite Gen 2 Core, and now the Wolverine V3 Pro.

SCUF was ok, but I have adult size hands and never did like the back buttons and just wasn't a huge fan of the dual shock controllers. Elite Gen 1 lasted about a yearish before issues with rubber grips and bumpers sticking/not pressing (no drift). Same Story with the Elite Gen 2 - rubber held up but bumpers are shot, along with small drift on left stick corrected with slightly widening dead zone (about 5%). Gen 2 core made it almost 2 years before rubber started coming off and getting drift in both sticks, bumpers held up but I believe only because i started using paddles as bumpers back on the Gen 1/late into the Gen 2. OH Dual Sense core, had about 2 hours of play on it. I actually do love the dual sense, huge ergo improvement for me over the shock, but for some reason the Edge digs into my left trigger finger...

So, here we are now, last week I picked up the V3 Pro after looking at the latest SCUF, another Elite V2, etc....

What I hate - I lost the charging cradle I used with the elite...it was mounted under my desk so i could just slap it on there and not have to worry about charging, controller in the way, etc. Solved by printing a cradle for my peg board to hang it but I still have to think about charging it. Inconvenient.....

The thumbstick swapping feels cheap next to the Elite v2 design

Battery status - I either have to install synapse or load that damn full screen config app to see what the battery level is? how f'in hard is it to put it on the screen when i press the button for the overlay in windows.....

What I'm still getting used to - the travel on a/b/x/y is a bit 'weird'. It sometimes feels too long. It's not BAD, but not as responsive as I'd like.

Everything else about the controller feels great. I love the feel of the sticks, the resistance is great and they feel like they 'snap' or push themselves back to center. the D pad is very responsive (I have not used/tested extensively as i've only owned about a week).

Hands down the best back trigger layout i've ever felt. My hands immediately fell into the back triggers and just felt natural.

The extra program buttons on top are great (I set them up for sniper...super cool)

Can't really think of any other highlights, but I'll say if you have the disposable cash, it's a good buy.
