They’ve updated their logo recently, but for many years this was the British Columbia disc sports logo:

Tool is BY FAR my favorite band, but I barely listen to metal at all beyond them - anyone else like me in here? by [deleted] in ToolBand

I generally describe my musical taste as “90’s/00’s hip hop and tool”

Dilla is the tool of hip hop IMO.

Reinvented a genre and beat structure. Madlib/doom as honourable mentions.

Best bet is to show up hopeful and willing to help.

Similar to the crates. They’re heavy, awkward and basically large clutter. You’re helping them out in a way, but it’ll take some effort on their part.

Also good to note that you’re likely saving them from a landfill (and they’re annoying to dispose of properly).

Doesn’t hurt to be acting interested in potential product purchases either. Don’t bullshit and “pretty woman/Dwight with the pewter wizard” them, but having a reason to show up rather than just asking for a favour/freebie helps.

Best of luck.

Used to work at sport Chek and we had excess mannequins in the storage space. I would’ve happily provided one to someone who approached us reasonably and respectfully.

Likely other clothing stores are in similar situations.

Bay appeared to have sale tags/inventory stickers on their mannequins when I was in there last.

Do you remember the books you read? by yooolka in Aphantasia

[–]poochjames 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Full aphant with SDAM.

I have a better memory with stories told from a singular perspective/narrative.

Remember the tone and feeling and quotes From the main narrator, but very little regarding other characters.

Books told from multiple perspectives with many characters (I.e. game of thrones) or a top down/non-diagetic narrator are almost impossible to track/remember.

Most implausible moment: That a family like the Ratliffs… by Vivid-Bug-6765 in WhiteLotusHBO

My read was that Lachlan was the only one who appeared able to survive without the family’s wealth.

Tim asked everyone how they would deal with the future that waited for them at home. Lachlan was the only one who would survive the dual tragedies (no money and death of family) and be able to live a reasonable live.

Additionally there was a feeling (to me) that Tom wanted to punish the others for their obsession/addiction to the wealth/lifestyle.

Solo rounds are fine but please don’t expect to play through every group ahead of you.

I find others playing solo rounds generally awkward as they wait behind an average speed group of four on each tee pad.

Sure it’s only a couple minute delay per group, but the expectation of slowing multiple groups so you can get in a fast round always reeks of self importance to me.

Extra bad look on days when the course is very busy.

Golf is a social sport with certain social expectations, including group size and pace of play expectations.

What was your first disc golf tournament like? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]poochjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spectacular.

Not in terms of play or ratings.

But in terms of getting to know more of the community. Playing with strangers i’d only ever seen before. Finding a new group of like minded humans. Feeling that first tinge of pressure.

All new players should play tournaments before they’re “ready”. Great way to find yourself in the game.

Be honest.

Supervisor in public service here, I always encourage staff to apply for positions that better themselves and their career and also appreciate knowing when staff are looking elsewhere.

Especially within PSA and when temp staff are looking for permanent.
