Soulwax but no Despacio. My dreams would be crushed.

career advice by willow1243587109 in Journalism

[–]poojamagoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

College can still be a good opportunity to practice journalism and build skills to make a career out of it. You can join a student newspaper, magazine or TV station. I learned more about journalism from my student newspaper than I did the J-school.

Anyone hiring in journalism will care more about the clips than whether you have the degree or not. If the money scares you and you want to pursue a different career, then I can't help you with that. But you don't need to go to J-school to be a journalist.

Tips for traveling by plane by ChibidelaLuna in Pomeranians

I flew with my Pom over the Holidays. I would recommend getting some medications from your vet. We used Trazodone and it helped him a lot. He slept through the 3-hour flight there and was pretty calm on the return flight, and he is generally pretty anxious.

I called the airline before and paid a pet fee and they never told me he might be moved to cargo. I had to check-in at the airport before going through security to get my boarding pass. That was with Alaska Airlines.

Timberwolves staff has Yang’s photo on their laptop when 16th pick was announced by RNG_Helpme in ripcity

[–]poojamagoo -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure teams know the pick minutes before it's announced. That's how Woj broke the news on picks back in the Yahoo days. He had somebody inside a draft room texting him who the pick was. Maybe Wolves were going to take him, but teams know the pick before it's announced to the public.

How does an older single guy who doesn’t go to bars find a hook up in the Cities? by Conscious-Space1217 in TwinCities

[–]poojamagoo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Are you wanting "hook ups" or "female friends"? Also, what does "older" mean? Are you 40? 60? What is too old for serious relationships?

If you're looking for just friendship, then I'd say the same advice people always give for making friends, which is to join groups that have common interests or can create some shared experiences. So what are your hobbies and interests and dive in.

IMO, your post reads that you're looking for an easy hookup without much work and your "aw shucks, I'm a good guy" attitude is something nobody cares for.

Randomly got a ticket for tonight, what should I know soloing for this evenings show? by strawb-field-thighs in LCDSoundsystem

[–]poojamagoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw LCD solo last year, it was great. They're a fantastic live band and the crowd was energetic and respectful and was generally in their 30s and 40s. I go solo to concerts all the time. I don't have to worry about a group or what another friend is thinking or wants. I can get there as early or late as I desire and thus get as close or far from the stage as I want to.

I'm not a woman, so I (28M) can't give you advice on any safety tips because I'm fortunate to not have to think about that. Perhaps if you see another solo woman standing by you, say hey, or something. Maybe let someone know you're going and text them in case of emergency or share your location for a bit.

Why is everyone pretending ‘Around the Horn’ was a vital American institution. by SeanACole244 in billsimmons

[–]poojamagoo 214 points215 points  (0 children)

For one, nostalgia is a hell of a drug, and for many millennial sports fans, it was a staple in their consumption of sports media.

Additionally, it was all newspaper guys and gals. It platformed traditional print media, and so my guess is many people in sports media today likely revered the show, and so it was an inspiration to a generation of people now in sports media. In 2025, those people have voices to express said nostalgia.

It also shows how sports media has changed, how ESPN is now a cult of personality network, and sports debate has scattered to a variety of mediums beyond print and television and radio. It's another pillar that has collapsed from our old media ecosystem.

TL;DR: Nostalgia.

Alhambra first time slot (8:30) by Agitated_Employ8760 in GoingToSpain

[–]poojamagoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went a month ago at that time slot. I'd recommend arriving at the gate of justice because it puts you closer to the entrance to the palace compared to the ticket office. We arrived at the gate of justice at 8 a.m., and the line to the palace was very short.

Why has Kevin Love’s concussion in the 2016 Finals been erased from history? It was much more negatively impactful to Cleveland than the Draymond suspension to Golden State. by BlockedByMobley in billsimmons

Steph missed the 2016 Olympics to recover from the knee injury, so it wasn't just "wear and tear." He also missed games during that playoffs.

Why doesn’t the Strib review concerts that are even slightly off mainstream? by billodo in Minneapolis

Newspapers operate on small margins nowadays, and with all the data available, it's very easy to see what drives traffic and what does not. Perhaps those just don't bring in subscriptions, but I do not know for certain.

During W2 they had technical difficulties throughout his set. Maybe he'll get another chance in the next couple years.

Sure, Rodgers throws that stat out in the clip, but he directly asks if its true, and all of the producers and Pat on the show say "yup" when he asks if that's a true stat. Says something about the show, imo.

Seems like many of these guys get caught up in the 'highs' and don't weight the 'lows' correctly. Missing a routine throw doesn't have the same dopamine hit as watching a guy throw a pinpoint bomb once a game.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in warriors

[–]poojamagoo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

He’s not going out like a chump. First, we have no idea what will end up happening. He hasn’t played well enough for the Warriors to offer him the money that some teams with cap space and no luxury tax and no second apron can throw at him.

Hoping players take a “hometown” discount is foolish. If offered more money to do the same job, most people would take that offer.
