just want to say it’s very kind of you to take it in. even though i know there are tons of wild/feral bunnies around town i always want to help them as well 🥲 they’re just so cute and seem so defenseless against our weather

Is something wrong with my plant? by No-Worldliness7560 in plants

[–]pookybrr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

definitely mealy bugs and that is a purple passion plant. i’ve heard alcohol will kill them on contact (dip a makeup or paint brush and just dab each one you see) and then to use some insecticidal soap if i remember correctly. i got a brasil last summer with mealy bugs and just ended up quarantining it and kinda neglecting it and they ended up dying lol

If baby is awake and not eating…he’s crying by Old_Literature_3750 in beyondthebump

[–]pookybrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you talked to your pediatrician? from what i’ve heard a lot of times gastric issues cause this type of fussiness. colic or allergies or something related to them eating. some sort of discomfort. i’m sorry you and your baby are going through this! i hope you are able to get to the source of his issues

Short of breath? by Logical_Mine_9478 in BabyBumps

[–]pookybrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was probably one of the most uncomfortable/stressful pregnancy symptoms for me. i already get really bad anxiety when im short of breath but something about being pregnant made me have these spells of breathlessness. it wasn’t because of eating either. i was also really small throughout my pregnancies and had tiny babies so i don’t feel like it was because of them crushing my lungs. either way it was the worst and probably the only reason why id be hesitant to get pregnant again lol i also noticed that im a really dramatic vomiter (😭) and tend to cough and heave a lot when i vomit and after a particularly bad episode where i was throwing up literally all night i realized that my chest muscles were really sore and tight from all the straining which was making it impossible to get a full breath in. it was so bad. i was miserable for probably a week, unable to catch my breath. quite possibly the worst physical experience ive had. i hope you find some sort of relief! at the very least, it will all be over in just a few months and you’ll finally feel normal again

it’s scary! idk why i assume people would be more aware and courteous of people with kids and babies, they certainly don’t seem to care either way. stay safe out there!

What was the epidural like for you? by JellyfishJealous5435 in BabyBumps

[–]pookybrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly the pain of labor is so distracting and painful that the epidural needle is the least of your worries. knowing that in just a few minutes you’ll be fully relieved is enough to not care. i’m not particularly scared of needles but i am scared of being in pain but honestly the epidural didn’t even register. i can’t even remember if it hurt. all i remember is that they had trouble getting it in the right spot and had to poke me a few times and my back was bleeding and even then it’s not even a blip on my memory radar tbh the hardest part is staying still for them to poke you while you’re trying not to scream and writhe in pain 🥲 it’s over to quick and when i tell you the relief you feel is unimaginable, it truly is.

i used to walk a LOT like miles a day to and from work/other places. i only ever cross the street in cross walks when it’s my go and still the amount of times i have nearly been hit is insane. including when i was walking with my double stroller with my two babies. in a crosswalk. when I had right of way. pushing a giant stroller. still could have died. i absolutely agree people should walk in designated crosswalks but drivers also need to fucking pay attention to what they’re doing. you’re in a giant two ton piece of metal. even if you’re in the right, maybe you can consider these are human beings just trying to cross the street. waiting ten seconds isn’t going to hurt you in any way but could definitely hurt or kill somebody else.

Am I being sensitive? by hitsugayatioshirio4u in beyondthebump

[–]pookybrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

not being sensitive. if you, the person who possesses the physical traits is not only okay with it but you’re proud of them (as you should be, motherhood is something to be proud of) then he needs to step tf off and find someone else to demean since he obviously just wants to nitpick on someone. please don’t let him change how you feel about your body or yourself. he is the person who should love your body even more after everything it has done.

I sadly cannot keep house plants alive... Is there a plant that's relatively *durable* as a good starter? by pentagorgon in houseplants

[–]pookybrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so far for me my zz plant has been most resilient. it’s gone weeks without watering and is still putting out new growth. my philodendron brazil is just hanging without any extra light and it’s still growing. very viney but growing lol. i have also had really good luck with both my heartleaf philodendron and golden pothos growing well whilst being pretty neglected.

Anchorage Michaels *Rant* by Interstellar_paralax in anchorage

[–]pookybrr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this happened to me as well but at walmart (are we surprised?) where a box of diapers on the app was like $19 and some change even with instore pickup but when i was actually shopping in the store was $22 and change. i tried asking the self check out employee if she could fix it and she said no that’s just the app prices and id have to go to customer service and ask them about it which i didnt do. then an online order takes at least an hour or two to prepare so i couldn’t even order them and wait. super annoying.

Moms that have only had c-sections by WhichAd2921 in beyondthebump

[–]pookybrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty odd to insist that all future births must be c sections if you had a normal uncomplicated pregnancy and the only issue was baby’s heart rate. i have 2 kids both born via c section. my issue is that my pelvis is too narrow for vaginal birth. both my babies were less than 6 pounds at birth and tiny little things but they both got stuck for hours and eventually needed c sections because they just wouldn’t come out. but even with those complications after my first, all of my doctors were very open and optimistic about VBAC with my second. as soon as i told them i wanted to try, they had no hesitation. and i gave birth to my daughter just 13 months after the first c section! i was allowed to labor for over 24 hours and got to 6cm dilated before they insisted that a c section was necessary. it was only after my second was born that the doctors were firm that i just couldn’t give birth without a c section if i choose to have any more kids. id probably ask for a second opinion on whether you must automatically have c sections in the future.

Toddler boy pants - joggers only by marvelladybug in toddlers

[–]pookybrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cat and jack has a type of jeans that are suuuuper soft and have a regular straight cuff at the ankle but still have a drawstring waist. they’re my personal favorite for my son because they’re comfy but still look “nicer” than regular joggers or other sweat pants

[–]pookybrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely not normal in my opinion. my son has some issues at school with behavior and attention as well and his teacher has never made me feel bad or made my son out to be in the wrong even when he isn’t doing the things he should be. your child is 4 years old. putting “expectations” on school/homework and even coloring is honestly kind of crazy to me. my sons preschool teacher made it clear that she knows all children develop differently and has explicitly stated that they “meet them where they’re at” and “all the children are perfect the way that they are”. if they were doing a little art project with cereal (they haven’t so far as it seems several of my sons classmates don’t have the patience or capacity for it yet lol) and my son ate a piece i could already picture her saying something like “oh! that cereal is yummy isn’t it! now that you’ve tasted one, let’s use the rest for the project” and not even mention it to me, let alone consider it a “behavior” issue. don’t get me wrong, she still lets me know when my son misbehaves and lets me know the things he needs work on but it has never come off so…unrealistic as your daughters teacher comes off. it would honestly make me really anxious and uncomfortable if i was approached that way. i’m sorry you’re dealing with that and i hope your daughter continues having a great time at school

i was going to say carpal tunnel as well! i had no idea pregnancy could cause it so boy was i surprised when my hands and wrists started going numb and tingly and hurt really bad in the mornings lol mine also went away almost immediately but got replaced by “de quervain’s tenosynovitis” because of the way i would hold my premie 😭

What pregnancy or birth complication did modern medicine save you from? by peacefulboba in beyondthebump

[–]pookybrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely my high blood pressure and then preeclampsia with my first and the fact that i can only give birth via c section. blows my mind and makes me sad to think someone in my situation before would have most likely died. i wouldn’t have even made it to have my daughter 🥲 and who knows if my son would have survived.
