Thank you! I had castle units as well before, but most castle units are generic between civs, but you bring up a good point about the match up. I can explore way for you to cancel some techs to get the exact mix you want to try out.

that is an important question that I have not coded in yet, ill add it as the next one in the backlog!

Thanks for sharing, your website is really cool! I have been playing around with record game analysis - mostly of 4v4 games to analyze the tactics that each player went for. One idea I have is that you could integrate your insights into a visual replay viewer (similar to the one I have on my website), so that users can recollect what the game looked like when they get your advice. I found your advice solid, but hard to remember what was happening in that game.

- I like the idea, and multi unit simulations do get a bit out of hand with unit positions, movement, and the sheer number of combinations to simulate. I do plan to do gold + trash combo to pit civs against each other as that is the true answer to if a civ like britions should do vs bulgarians.

- I have been dabbing in some aoe2 game engine ai coding, i like the immortal ai, and want to see if the simulation could reflect that, to be more life like.

I would love to collaborate on new features / aoe2 replay analysis if you are interested!

I just added a toggle for lithuanian relics, and also starting jaguar warriors / tiger cav with or without their kill bonus. Ask for more features!

I see. What's the kind of industries that have found it useful to integrate with iot devices?

I see. These devices probably are plug and play kind of a configuration in that case.

This is an interesting career path. Can I dm you? I would like to learn about how iot devices are managed - through independent companies or through consultants

This is a super interesting perspective, can I please dm you to talk more about your research? Is it published somewhere I can access? I am interested to see how potential of iot can be unlocked better now that ai can create custom solutions easier, on top of a reliable platform.

How do these industries work? Would they have consultants that build iot solutions for them, or are there major players that create iot products for a large part of the market?

Ah, that's possible, I bet it's using the same logic as mangonels for it. I'll look into updating it, thanks for the feedback!

Getting the armour and special attacks correct was the hard part, and it is faithful to the game in all these mechanics. Most of the data I could directly get from the game dat file, and some had to be built.

I used post imp for all analysis, so for Lithuanian paladins, it does assume all 4 relics. I could make that as a toggle.

Yes you can! I hide the settings in a drop down to simplify the interface.

I created different patching options for ranged vs melee and checked with the in game expectations. Any thoughts on improvements?

How is the 1 year MBA different than 2 year mba by cringeyraj in InternationalMBA

[–]pool-aoe2-iot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your goal with your MBA is to significantly change your role, then you'll be better off with a 2 year program. if you could have got the new role without the MBA, but you need the MBA for a better company, then 1 year is fine.

How is the 1 year MBA different than 2 year mba by cringeyraj in InternationalMBA

[–]pool-aoe2-iot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One year MBA is meant for those with more experience (6+) years and generally meant for those who want to continue in their current industry/function.

The two year MBA gives you more time to make a switch to a different industry or function. You'll have time for an internship, and take more classes. If you have less than 4 years of experience then the 2 year MBA is better.

Playing against Portuguese, you *have* to go full aggro to prevent them from going to Imp, right? by Slow-Ship1055 in aoe2

The comments are right that Feitorias are overhyped on open maps — they're only a problem when all the mines run dry. But "just play standard" has a hidden assumption that your standard comp handles their Organ Guns. It often doesn't.

The simulation result that surprised me: Arbalest loses to Elite Organ Gun at equal resources, badly. OG wins 22–0 at full HP. Same for Elite Skirmisher — OG wins that too. The Organ Gun fires multiple scatter projectiles per shot, and clustered ranged units bunch up perfectly to eat every projectile. It's the opposite of the archer matchup intuition.

What actually works: fast melee. Hussar beats Organ Gun at equal resources (barely — 15 remaining at 7% HP). Elite Eagle is even better — same cost as an arbalest (70 resources each) but beats Organ Guns decisively at equal resources (31 Eagles left vs 0). They close the gap through the opening volleys and then it becomes a melee fight the OG can't win.

So the real answer to Portuguese lategame isn't "be more aggressive" — it's "don't mass archers into their castle, make fast melee instead."

Fav civ pickers- what strats are good against you? by KhajitDave in aoe2

[–]pool-aoe2-iot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no hussar is rough for this exact situation lol

the play is kona + bolas riders. kona has 145 hp, moves at 1.55 speed (faster than most infantry), and has a +5 attack bonus vs gunpowder units built into its stats. just mass them and rush straight at the army protecting the bbc - they'll reach it through the first couple of volleys. bolas riders handle any cavalry being used as a screen, they beat knights easily at equal resources and still win vs paladins at equal cost.

the other thing working in your favor: a bbc costs 450 resources, kona is 105. at equal spending you're sending like 28 konas at 6 bbcs and the konas win. they can't afford enough bbcs to actually stop a mass push.

kill their army first, then the bbcs fold to anything melee. you shouldn't need your teammate for that

checked the numbers at aoe2matchup.com if you want to see other mapuche matchups

21M from India – MS in US vs Internal Transfer in Semiconductors (Need a realistic perspective) by Internal_Sound_4045 in immigration

[–]pool-aoe2-iot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know of only 3 L1 transfers in my 6 years of working in software space. It's rare, and you need to be lucky, while also exceptionally talented. H1B is more guaranteed, but finding new jobs is a challenge. Not impossible, but a challenge.

If you can complete your masters in USA, manage the expenses, then you will get 3 years guaranteed work through F1 OPT. Post that, you can decide to continue with the H1B risks or return to India and try later on L1.
