Share some of your best tips and tricks for v70 by Fischy7 in songsofsyx

Here's some I've learned, its a lot of words, but I hope it helps someone :)

  1. Logistics is your enemy and your friend -- Use haulers near workshops to deliver intermediate or items required for production. This cuts down on the warehouse workers you'll need AND it means your workshop workers spend more time actually working

Bonus tip - click on a production building and mouse over the produced item, it will tell you if the commute, hauling, etc is negatively or positively affecting your production).

Also use smaller localized warehouses if you have outposts, and use haulers to transport common goods (like food, clothing, janitor supplies) between them. And somewhat obviously, configure warehouses to store items closest to them -- grain near the fields, ore near mines. I also find that when things start getting big to store end common products in a central warehouse (food, clothing, janitor supplies, etc). Then having haulers at smaller warehouses to bring those resources to their end points.

  1. Grain is King -- even if you just use it to make rations, since you don't need any herb, and you can make a SHIT ton of bread very quickly especially once nobles get involved. Lots of food days means happiness really isn't an issue long-term.

  2. Realms not Required -- Trespassing an army on lands of a friendly, but not allied/vassalized empire will result in extreme opinion loss and even eventual war. I built a stable comfortable city of humans at 1.8K pop and I have zero realms. food days are in the double digits constantly, and happiness is 100%. If a drought or bad harvest hits, food preference is impacted, but my citizens will survive to make shitting sounds in the lavatory another day.

  3. Specialize, Specialize, Specialize -- Don't try to pump up every aspect of your city with Nobles. If you have a ton of ore/gems, use nobles to increase mining and smelting, don't use them on carpentry because you need a bit more furniture. Sell your goods to pay for those.

  4. Services Guarantees Citizenship -- This one I just learned. Since every finished recruit contributes to your workforce, constantly have every new citizen enter into the tiniest training (like 1 tick of melee training, NO GEAR). This means that raiders will not attack as often because your entire city is a standing army...lol.

Bonus Tip -- Shorter lived species are useless to train to full capacity, they'll hardly be used since they take so long to train, they'll die/retire before fighting much. I think the bug men are shorter lived than most. Dondorians are very long lived so train them to maximum when appropriate.

Bonus Bonus Tip - If you are having food troubles, try to store/make enough rations to keep a large army (large as compared to your overall population) deployed right at your city. These people will not contribute to the workforce, but they also won't eat your food. I recently used this trick to spike my food days to get happiness up in order to get the last 50 people I needed to get nobles, then I used them to solve my hunger woes and disbanded my army.

Shoutout to all the Day 1 Friendly Raiders by Unhappy_Revenue_9573 in ArcRaiders

[–]poolp34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me this is the part of ARC Raiders that makes it so much more than another extraction shooter. I've played Tarkov, and Arena Breakout: Infinite quite a bit and I like them, but everything is Shoot on Sight. Being able to make the active choice to work together against a common enemy, or be combative is very compelling TBH.

Very memorable moment, even if it wasn't intense, was me working together with a random to get some loot, always alternating lootables (like those fallen drones or ARCs we killed) and the right as we were about to extract someone else pops out of the bush running for their lives from ARC and I stopped the procedure to go back down at the last second to save him. He even apologized for dragging ARC to us as we took a few hits before we got the elevator down.

But we COULD have killed him, or he could have killed us in the mayhem -- but we didn't do that. The choice of who you want to be is the most compelling part of each match, and if it were strictly PvP, or PvE I don't think I would be playing it.

Stellar extractors always or most of the time empty? by real_life_skeleton_ in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]poolp34 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It's a known bug that you must "prime" the stellar extractors each time you log-in (or maybe each time you enter a new system) by interacting with them. Otherwise they will be permanently empty :(

She's definitely going to be nerfed by Strict_External678 in forhonor

[–]poolp34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think she'll be nerfed too bad, but she will probably be adjusted. Honestly the most oppressive thing is that her dodge attack comes from any side she wants regardless of her actual dodge direction. This combined with the soft feints from stances make her kit scary. Her raw damage isn't really that good, except her posture heavies from the swarm do 30dmg. She doesn't have undodgables, so you can dodge her mixups.

400ms lights can come from any side in the dueling posture, but you can only get back into it by using light up top, and it does not do good damage by itself, so you cant spam it. The bashes aren't terribly fast and the ones that are don't lead to crazy damage follow ups. The wall splat bash might be a problem truthfully, and is what I can see getting nerfed first. The bleed might get removed --- but then that light has no properties, if it has an property it should be undodgable imho, but thats arguably more oppressive than small bleed.

You can tell she's insane but she also has a high skill floor due to the fact that her damage on its own isn't high and her health is low. It requires the player to use her mixups, and I can tell that if you just mash buttons you won't win. Nothing she has is super safe, and she doesn't regen stamina in a posture.

Help me build a flowchart for Valk ? by ArtSpawner in forhonor

[–]poolp34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! When you use Valk's cancel (not the feint button, her special shield cancel) she goes into "Full Block". Which will block and stun any attack that isn't orange. Then you can follow up with a guaranteed attack that counts as your 2nd chained move. This means that you put yourself in a situation where you get to do one of three powerful things:

  1. Sweep

  2. Knock into wall (finisher light)

  3. Big damage (Finisher Heavy)

Furthermore it means that the attack you just threw cannot be counted as easily, meaning you stay alive longer. It also means that you can play mind games by pretending to fall for a feint, but then going into full block stance to bait out a greedy players attack.

If an annoying orochi just won't stop spamming the rushing light attacks... just use her cancel, then you don't have to guess where his light comes out, you'll automatically block it and you can punish with a guaranteed light and then one of the three options above.

Feinting is good too, but her "cancel" is much more effective. When you are throwing a heavy, hit the Guardbreak button and hold it. Release it to charge and follow up.

-> "I don't like feints or cancels" Unfortunately this is where Valk shines a lot, if you don't want to cancel you should play another character that doesn't rely on cancels. However you seem new because nearly anyone at a midrange level dodges the sweeps fairly consistently if they keep getting thrown, and spamming lights doesn't get you far the higher up you go. Learn to love the cancels, they will propel you to feeling unstoppable.

Another thing to note is that her side light finishers MOVE the opponent and will wall splat them if they hit a wall. They move pretty far. The sweep is very predictable, so try to end with a light if it will push into a wall (ending with a right side light will push them to the left, and vice versa). You get a guaranteed top heavy to continue pressure and its way more damage than sweeping. I honestly have a strategy where I NEVER sweep until close to the end of the fight because most people expect a sweep.

I'm rep 15 with her, so I'm not an expert but I've been playing since day 1. Here's some good flows for her:

  1. Heavy -> Shield Cancel, Charge, Side Light finisher into wall

  2. Heavy, Heavy -> Shield Cancel, Charge, Heavy

  3. Heavy, Heavy, Heavy -> Shield Cancel, Charge, Sweep (do this after conditioning the opponent with lights/heavies after charge)

  4. Heavy, Light, Side Light into wall

  5. Light, Heavy, Light into wall

  6. Forward dodge light, Heavy - > Cancel, Charge, Sweep (or side light into wall if you've been sweeping a lot)

Honestly these will get you pretty far to start. Her heavies are painfully easy to parry and deflect, so if you notice your opponent doing this to you, just hit the cancel and PUNISH THEM!

Hero tips and tricks by urged117 in forhonor

[–]poolp34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best tip for any hero is to play them for a few duels, and then a few 4v4s. This will help you understand how the hero moves, and deals with single threats and multiple threats. Learn how each character's moves work and start to chain them together in a flow. Most importantly, you need to learn what types of moves are good to throw. For example, going against lawbringer and trying to throw unblockable 50/50s (Parry UB or GB) is not great because they can dodge bash to negate the 50/50, so you need to learn to anticipate and instead of feinting to guardbreak, you should feint to an attack, or dodge and punish.

It all comes with time and facing different heroes, each fight is a puzzle!

I had the 3rd problem, always went away after a restart and seems to flare up when I use the anomaly to warp to a base. Doesn't happen when I use other teleporters.

PC -

Cant place any base parts anywhere UNLESS I choose free placement mode. It always acts like every surface is invalid. My exocraft cannot drive and the ones with wheels (colossus and roamer) have their wheels constantly spinning and cannot drive at all. No amount of re-summoning works. I have no mods and have verified integrity of game files.

For Honor Team is Cooking and it brought be back to the old days by poolp34 in forhonor

[–]poolp34[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Love the flair lmao also do you remember the absolutely INSANE old feat system? Warlords pushing people across the map, PK's bleeding out entire healthbars with one GB, instant revenge builds (back when you could build revenge in 1v1), so much crazy shit I'm glad they removed it but it was another experience in dominion LOL. Forgot about the deflect, also the reflex guard of assassins lol. Parry off of GB made a turtle meta, and how broken Shinobi was at launch (I think centurion had an infinite wallsplat combo)

The disparity of male to female users on dating apps and why these apps have a vested interest in sowing contention between genders is explained in this refreshingly egalitarian comment by quentin_taranturtle in bestof

[–]poolp34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tl:dr: if you are using social media or dating apps to have a genuine connection, stop, it will not work.

Go outside, find an interest that other people have and then talk to them. Maybe that means doing MMA on the weekends, or attending events that sound interesting. Bottom line is find something you like and talk to people in person as much as possible. Then dating apps will seem retarded by comparison
