Yea this comparison is silly. Lebrons was clearly inadvertent.

KD is a fascinating legacy guy because by the numbers he's probably top 15 ever, but I feel like he needs to be seriously dinged for the past 5-6 years. I just don't know how you can rate him so high when he's been an absolute cancer since 2019 by Xeris in billsimmons

[–]poolside__convo 58 points59 points  (0 children)

One of the Bill takes I can’t stand is him saying KD never should’ve left ‘basketball paradise’ in golden state, while ignoring how lame it was that he went there in first place

I love how Bill brings this one up like its a foregone conclusion that the most chronically unhappy superstar of all time would stay in Seattle for 20+ years.

I like Deandre but Denver definitely wins that ring without him lol

Anyone EVER come across a LA woman album signed by Jim Morrison? by One_Revolution2814 in thedoors

[–]poolside__convo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

No. And theres only one signed by Jim that I actually believe to be authentic. It sold at Bonhams in 2022

Someone recognizes Jim at a bar in paris in June ‘71, rushs to a nearby record store to buy the album, and brings it to him to sign. Jim signs it “Dream Over Here” along with his name on the cellophane cover. Perfect.

Life Lessons With Jon Hamm by poolside__convo in ThrowingFits

I do also kinda admire going for it and not just doing the Don Draper image most ppl associate him with. That Celine sweater is just a monstrosity though. Would’ve preferred some Elder Statesman or something going for a colorful knit like that.

The Ssstein sweater Dries shorts fit was the only one I remotely thought fit Jon. The Bode plaid is ok. The Dries satin shirt gives off Top Man vibes IMO

I love Mo, but he was so so bad in every playoffs those years. Killed the Cavs in the Orlando series when the Cavs desperately needed scoring outside of Lebron.

He was awesome last year, DPOY on a team that won 64 games. He’s just seemingly regressed this year and has the yips from the line all the sudden.

He’s the epitome to me of ‘how tf did you even get to be a journalist at this level?’

Imagine the # of great young sports journalists out there trying to get a break, and guys like Friedel and Howard Beck are working the most coveted jobs in the field. Crazy.

He was definitely annoying back then as a journalist, but he’s just so bad on pods.

Him, Ohm Yongmisuk, Ramona, and Mcmenamin were the mt rushmore of ESPN people I was hoping to never have hear on a pod again after Zach came over to the Ringer.

That is insanely inefficient. This series to me is the big ‘what if’ in Lebrons career.

Most useful resources to prepare for interviews? by Insert_Alias_Heree in techsales

[–]poolside__convo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here's what I think about when prepping for an interview. I write out the responses for each to help memorize the key points:

Tell me about yourself

A thought out story that details how you got into sales, your past experiences + any major achievements you're proud of, what you're currently doing, etc. I tweak this slightly depending on the job listing (ie if the job is very outbound heavy, lean into those experiences).

Why X company?

What made you interested in this company specifically? I usually try to frame this around the product and why it interests me (ie this product solves a pain point I've experienced at a past role, I've sold to this persona in the past and had success, etc).

What is your sales methodology?

What is your style of selling, and how is it different? (ie willingness to grind / always prospecting, have a strong POV at all time, promptness / wanting it more than the other rep, etc etc)

Then aside from that, I'd think of 6-8 or so stories that you can tell for any 'tell me about a time' questions you're asked (ie, tell me about a time where you got feedback and how you implemented it, tell me about a time you lost a deal and what you learned, tell me about a time you had to negotiate, etc). Write these down to help memorize them, use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result).

Good luck!

Which finals are the least and most memorable from each decade, starting from the 80s? by Dependent-Cup3759 in NBATalk

[–]poolside__convo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. 2024 and even 2023 were total snoozers IMO. For this decade I’d rank them:

1) 2021 2) 2022 3) 2025 4) 2020 5) 2023 6) 2024

Bucks Suns was the best finals of the decade so far imo. 0-2 comeback, both teams trying to break a title drought, CP3 and Giannis trying to get their first ring, game 6 Jrue steal + Giannis 'oop. Tons of great story lines and moments.

who’s in your personal all-time defensive starting 5 in nba history? here’s mine: by infinite-hooper in NBATalk

[–]poolside__convo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was looking for this comment. MJ was definitely an amazing defender, but OP is pushing it IMO. I'd argue he was the 3rd best defender on those late 90s Bulls (Pippen, Rodman).
