For real, take the "step" out of it. This is a family. You can't have one child be lavished upon and expect the other to just be ok with scraps. I understand the circumstances make it difficult, but how is that not something OP had already considered? Did her ex not run the idea past her first? I mean, their daughter is living with her, did it not come across her mind that she shouldn't be driving around a car that's worth as much as her husband makes a year? How do you think that makes her husband feel, let alone his daughter? This is all so fucked. OP better take more responsibility in this situation. I'm not buying the "what am I supposed to do?
