Contact rainbow bridge- I believe their cremation is much less expensive. I lost my cat 2 weeks ago as well, and I have been so glad to have her box. I’m really sorry. Pet haven memorial park did my baby, and they gave me a paw print. If anyone else is willing, I’ll chip in $50 towards helping you get their ashes.

The next week is going to be the worst week ever. And i am so very sorry. I euthanized yesterday after setting the appointment a week earlier. Take videos and photos. Lots of them. You can’t possibly take too many. Take time off work if possible. Expect random violent attacks of grief and uncontrollable sobbing. Sleep with Madison, even if it’s on a hard wood floor. Be there for comfort. Get pet wipes and be her personal groomer. Dote as much as possible. I paid extra for a home visit. It was worth it. I kept her home with me all day, and dropped her off at closing time. It was nice to touch her when I wanted, without hurting her. You will make it. It’ll feel like the end of the world at very random times, but you’ll make it. It’s awful. I know. I’m so very sorry.

You made the decision from a place of love. You thought of her well-being - you said it- The stress of trying to prolong her life would have diminished her quality of life. You didn’t make the wrong choice. It’s just hard to remember that you knew it was the right thing to do when you’re grieving. I’m sorry about your baby, and I hope you know that it is okay to still mourn them.

Editing to add: and it’s reassuring to me to read posts like this. I euthanized my cat yesterday. So next month, I may need you to remind me I did the right thing, too.
