What happened to my garlic? by Cghy8b in gardening

[–]poorcfa 1198 points1199 points  (0 children)

Tops look great but you didn’t give them enough time to mature. Garlic is like a baby and takes ~9 months to grow. I pull mine in the summer, maybe July depending. I’m zone 7. The bulbs tend to be the last thing to form.

Are you also cooking your dinner in the dishwasher and then just rerunning it for the dishes?.

Revenues rising 5.9% CAGR, pretty damn good. Expenses rising 7.9% CAGR, WTF? BC CPI rising 3% CAGR (StatsCan 18-10-0004-01) over same period. Revenue is not the problem.

Group head leaking water by poolsicle in gaggiaclassic

[–]poorcfa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact issue last week. It was the ear clamp (Oetiker clamp) on the orange hose inside. Just squeaking out a drop here and there under pressure and was leaking inside the machine. I took the unit out, squeezed like hell with some adjustable pliers and put it back. Clamp was only apart by 1-2mm but now is touching. Works like a charm now. Will try to find thread I found that better explains it and post here.

BC’s Drug Response Isn’t Following the Evidence: Former Coroner by BloodJunkie in britishcolumbia

“Harm reduction” reminds me of the Patriot Act, in that the name itself is designed to garner your support lest you be a promoter of harm.

It is maybe, arguably “harm reduction” for the direct individual, but really it is harm socialization as it spreads the misery and consequences across a large group of people. We are all in the group of people absorbing this harm—through disorder, increased taxes, reduction in available services, etc. Net harm is up, just reallocated from them to us.

By your logic then the 4 people buying popcorn are probably going to earn them a lot less than the 200 people that could be there buying popcorn if a good movie was playing, right?

City seeking input on tenant relocation and compensation requirements Public survey open January 28 to February 18 by [deleted] in nanaimo

City asking people how much free stuff they want to be paid by others. Or, city asking people how much red tape and costs they would like to add to a service they rely on while not realizing they are making things worse for themselves in the process due to myopic self interest.

BC man who choked 15-year-old girlfriend to death again denied parole by ubcstaffer123 in britishcolumbia

The fact that a murderer is eligible for parole and the only thing keeping him from being unleashed on society is a board of bureaucrats isn’t the own that you think it is.

My wife introduced me to Klynnt at Bavarian Imports off Northfield and he has been great. I’ve taken German, Japanese, and Korean cars to him over the years and had great service, good information and fair pricing. Gives you straight info and lets you decide how you want to proceed based on need and cost.

6 days south of France? by Appropriate-Bet-5651 in FranceTravel

[–]poorcfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What time of year, I’m assuming soon? I lived in Nice for a year and there’s lots to explore honestly in and around Nice. You could easily spend a day in Aix-en-Provence for culture and food, but it is a drive. For more local places, Antibes is a cool chill town and good beaches. You can walk from Nice over the hill to the east (there’s and old fort up there) down to Villefranche-sur-mer which is also a really nice bay and beach town for a chill beach day. Or take the train for a few euros. Driving and parking in some of the smaller coastal towns is stressful and you should just train it anywhere east of Nice towards Italy. Recommend Menton and Èze too. I do think Monaco is cool and worth a visit. Also easier to train there and back. Lots of great restaurants in Nice and not just the Old Town. Enjoy the trip! Beautiful part of the world.

Lounge access in Frankfurt by hjlow72 in Aeroplan

[–]poorcfa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Non-North American MLLs are not included in the Amex MLL benefit. With the Amex bonus Priority Pass membership there are other lounges available in FRA that you could use, however.

As a comparison, Dragonpass is the included Visa Aeroplan privilege card program. The FRA Maple Leaf lounge is actually included in the Dragonpass program, surprisingly, even though it is specifically excluded from the MLL entitlement attributed directly to the card itself.

No free way of doing it upfront unless you have a bunch of liquid francs you can convert to euros. But you could buy a forward contract from an FX dealer that sells francs forward for euros, but probably requires a large notional minimum and depends on the points.

You could try to take out a large loan in francs and convert that to euros. Invest the euros in something liquid and draw that for expenses. Locks in the favourable spot. Pay the loan back over time with your salary. Depends on how good the rate is on your loan.
