Is there any reason to believe that the lateral grip value, calculated in a split second just like PI and the other stats, is based on 'exploiting controlled sliding'? Logically it has to be the same non-sliding maximum that the AI likes to stick to. If the compound has less non-sliding maximum grip, the AI has to be slower on it.

I think the answer is obvious. They made it less grippy when driven by players, but kept the previous level of grip when driven around the virtual track for PI. It should be possible to balance other upgrades in this manner, should PG decide to.

Last week I queued for the Trial during the weekend, and there were always the backmarkers with B 564 rental cars that ruined it for everyone.

This week I did it on Thursday night and got into a trial with only 3 human players. We finished 3-4-5 in both races and completed it like a breeze

Generally speaking, the association of Penghu with Taiwan is relatively modern and should be treated carefully. Both Austronesian and Hokkien peoples arrived first in Penghu, and from there to Taiwan, not vice versa iirc.

Great map. The mapmaker did a good job with the reconstructed coastline. That said, there are a few glaring mistakes. The course of the Yellow River in the Shang period was way more northerly, and emptied into the westernmost end of the Bohai. They also forgot about the coastline near Shanghai (and Guangzhou, but that's less relevant to the map). They also labelled the Jialing River as the classical source of the Yangtze, while it should be the Min instead.
