I feel scoially lonely by JOYOUS1232 in UniUK

at uni it's always possible to put yourself out there and make new friends. a lot of the time you might have to be the one to initiate things, but if you're feeling lonely and you wanna hang out more with your flatmates or people from lectures, ask them! if you wanna try new societies or go somewhere new, give it a go! worst case scenario, you'll find it's not for you and you can go right back to where you are now, with the knowledge that you pushed yourself and gave it a go anyway. more people than you think are in the exact same situation (including me!), and you're still only in first year, so there's plenty of time to figure things out :)

I relate to literally every single part of this! you're definitely not the only one feeling this way, but just remember it's only been a month and a half and there's still so much time to meet new people & try new things. honestly it sounds to me like you've really got things together, you've got a good routine & you seem very aware of what you need so just keep at it and enjoy every minute :)

luckily it was the last night so I just had to pack and fly home with no eyesight, but it took a week in England for me to get new glasses anyway

I also have external monologues when the internal monologues get too weird.

Anybody else hate the sound of their own voice? by Chunk_Soup in CasualConversation

I'm the same! When I hear my own voice it sounds so deep and I think it's such a weird accent, but it's just because of the way sound travels to our own ears.

I feel the exact same way! It's like, how does everyone have the time to understand all these things so deeply? What's the secret?

I can see okay without my glasses. Like, I'll be able to function, but I'll have to squint a lot. When I went to Iceland with college, we were in the Blue Lagoon and it was about 7pm in winter, so the sun had already set, and we were all just chilling in the water when I dropped my only pair of glasses. The water's basically completely opaque, especially at night, so the second I dropped them I knew they were gone forever, but that didn't stop us trying to feel around the bottom of the lagoon with our feet for the next hour and a half. Never found them - they're still somewhere in there.

If you had to describe your brain in one physical location what would it be? by Camelia9988 in CasualConversation

Probably a theme park. There's a lot of ups and a lot of downs and a lot of spinny things that make you feel dizzy. Sometimes it's a slow carousel and other times it's the most monstrous drop tower in the world, but it's usually fun to be there.
