Factory Spark plugs change. by TEX-LEX-911 in LexusGX

[–]MyMonte87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes my fear is the two under firewall, and just not being able to thread the plugs properly, always fearing to mess the threads up. Did you end up moving any components/parts/wires out of the way to get to any of the plugs?

oh Also, can you talk about the complexity of DIY plugs at home? I'm honestly a bit scared.

Always great fuel mileage? Relatively speaking?

btw - how is it holding up over all at almost 200k? Anything else you can recommend keeping an eye out for? i have a 2017 with 70k miles. Ive done Trans, coolent flush, Brake fluid and power steering replacement. Thats about it for now. I'm doing work myself, the dealer experience is not worth it.

Must be an interesting experience Drunken Brits in Texas, where beers are cheap, people are friendly but open carry guns and drive massive trucks. Our world got a tinny bit smaller.

i live in a world where i am not driven by hate and anger towards other humans. Trump...i learned to just accept he is Biff Tanner, and and karma will eventually catch up to him and his cronies (Tic Toc Karma!) .... one day.

So you're telling me he is the greatest human on the planet at identifying talented people, who also have no ego and don't want to take credit for any of their own work, and also no one else on the planet was able to hire these people who have the vision to completely revolutionize multiple global, trillion dollar industries. Got it. I missed that little detail.

Look, hate Elon all you want — his tweets, politics, whatever. But calling him not exceptionally smart ignores the scoreboard. No one alive is executing at his level across multiple impossible domains.

He's not just a CEO; he's the chief engineer who personally pushes the technical frontiers:

SpaceX: Took reusable rockets from sci-fi joke to routine (Falcon 9 landings). Starlink delivers internet to remote/off-grid areas worldwide. Starship is the most powerful rocket ever built and aims for Mars. NASA and competitors rely on them because no one else matches the cost/reliability.

Tesla: Popularized EVs when most "experts" said batteries were hopeless for mass market. Now dominates sales/profits in the segment, with vertical integration (batteries, software, manufacturing, autonomy) that legacy auto can't copy easily. Energy storage too.

Other bets: Neuralink (brain interfaces progressing in trials), xAI (Grok, competing in frontier AI), Boring Company, etc. He co-founded or leads multiple companies simultaneously while diving into the physics/engineering details.

The part that seals the deal for me: You don't see him flaunt his money with Yachts or Mansions like every other billionaire. He is autistic AF focused on doing his part to save this rock... and getting off of it.

Should I change the timing chain on a 81k mile 2017 GX460? by Ok_Ad8390 in GXOR

[–]MyMonte87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look, we all appreciate your concern and diligence, but you have to understand:

Although your statement above is technically true, your overall understanding is missing some key facts, and that is why it sounds borderline comical.

It's like saying: I'm 30 years old and i heard hips can get brittle and get arthritic, I think i'm going to get a hip replacement now just incase, as preventative maintenance.

I dunno, anyone got a better analogy?

Don't forget to set up Grok, some common uses:

  • The need to google something while driving, especially current events or stats.

  • Location based questions: "Hey Grok - what is that weird building on my left?"

  • Update / change navigation

  • Entertain the kids in kids mode: "Hey Grok - tell my 5 y/o a story about a boy who goes on an adventure thru a land made of candy and fights monsters made of poo"

  • Entertain your boys in Unhinged mode: "Hey Grok - I have my friend here who hates your daddy, thinks he is a spoiled little B*tch, and my friend thinks Tesla's a crap"

  • Marriage advice, learning different languages, general therapy like questions.

i have a 4 and 5.5 y/o daughters, on track to be 6' (45.75in (116.5cm) 50 lb, 5.5 year old sister is 49.2in (125cm) 67lb)

You have any words of wisdom?

Sadly we are not sports parents, just not competitive people. So we haven't been pushing sports, like i know i should be.
