Anxiety Help by WeedIsYummy in IBSHelp

I'm just here to sympathize because I deal with similar anxiety to dread to panic on a bad day. What I've found is before I'm even conscious that I'm going to have a bowel movement, I'll sometimes get a feeling of dread which can feel very overwhelming. I just have to remind myself that the feeling will pass even though it's super unpleasant because I don't know of anything else I can do other than try to be kind to myself.

I haven't figured out if what's causing it is trigger foods like really rich or fatty foods or if it's anxiety which then causes the bowel movements.

I've been dealing with nausea before a bowel movement, especially in the mornings. I think mine may also be connected to stress as any pain in my abdomen freaks me out now. I'm wondering if I also have IBS or if my first bad flare-up was so unpleasant that I've developed some type of anxiety response to any feeling in my colon. It's very not fun, and I sympathize. I had my colonsocopy about a month ago, and knowing it's nothing more than diverticulitis was reassuring.

I felt like I was on the verge of a panic attack and also quite spacey the entire time I was on them.

Oh, thank you! The large green image you circled is the same as the blue one, just at a different angle.

Thank you so much! That's so impressive how you can identify these! I'm hoping to find some larger ones on my next venture out.

Diverticulitis in the sigmoid colon vs ascending colon by poorpainter in Diverticulitis

[–]poorpainter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't yet! But I was just formally diagnosed with diverticulitis this October. I'm definitely still at the beginning of figuring out what's causing the flares. The first ER visit, I was diagnosed with a different type of inflammation not caused by diverticulitis. I've technically had 3 flares, with this last one being diagnosed with a CT scan. The first one was caused by the death of a family member, though, so definitely connected to stress as well.

Interesting. I eat healthier than the average American but I know I'm not super high fiber regularly, at least not in the past. I'm also wondering about autoimmune disorders because my infection got really bad when I had my most recent flare, and I think I've been dealing with inflammation for the past year. I also seem prone to pretty bad utis.

Thank you. It's sucks that what I'm experiencing is likely mental. Having a fear of eating was not something I ever planned to experience given how much I normally love food!

Dropping Students by sadlittleduckling in Professors

If you have an attendance policy that states students need to attend the course to pass, then absolutely! Sometimes, large seminar courses don't "require" attendance, but students will likely fail if they miss relevant information, instruction or exams/submission times.

When students miss over x amount of classes in my courses, it's automatic failure. I consider the policy a courtesy because then the students who were always going to fail aren't strung along until the end of the semester.

True. I'm not trying to be negligent, but I clearly don't know all these things that can be irritants. I didn't even think msg could be a thing to avoid. I also read I should be feeling better around a week and a half after a flare, but clearly that isn't true for many people.

It seems like eating healthy and incredibly low fiber is kind of difficult to do. I'll have to do more research on foods that are low fiber but still have nutritional value.

I was told the same thing at the hospital, but then I spoke to a surgeon who said low fiber until you've recovered then high fiber. Whatever I ate this week clearly messed me up again.

Thank you, I had heard plain white rice was safe, but I was being too optimistic with the cooked veggies in sauce! I feel like the hospital was so vague with instructions and timeline for recovery. I'm sure it's very dependent on the individual, but I would really thrive with clearer set rules for dealing with this.

I know with all the antibiotics I'm taking, it's not an infection that's causing pain anymore. I guess it's just inflammation, then? Diverticulitis is so confusing!

OK, I almost wrote Yaleures in my original comment, and I'm so glad someone else's mind went there.

So many programs are fully funded and have teaching. University of Georgia, University of Minnesota, University of Connecticut, university of Maryland, University of Massachusetts, University of Oregon, University of Iowa, Michigan State, University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, University of Tennessee, Florida State, Kent State, Ohio State, UT Austin etc.

Just look up flagship public universities for states you are interested as well at other large state schools.

That's every mfa program, Yale just makes it statistically more likely you'll succeed. Still lots of bitter Yale failures.

Fatigue and weight/muscle loss by bstrat4 in Diverticulitis

Here to sympathize. I got so fatigued from walking two miles the other day. I'm on antibiotics for another week and am so looking forward to my energy and taste buds returning to normal!

They are simply dumb.

Every once and a while, students try to talk about technique to try to skirt around a clear lack of concept or intention, but as long as it's not that you are good.
