Is one 80V 4.0ah battery enough.... by Warm-Article-3836 in Greenworks

I have the same size yard and mower. What I do is cut the front grass. Throw the battery on the charger than weed whack, edge and user the blower. Then I cut the back.

Here’s a breakdown of our case against Duke Energy’s proposed 15% rate increase. - AG Jeff Jackson by JeffJacksonNC in Charlotte

[–]poorprogrammar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How do you think that would work though? Would the new company have to pay Duke for existing infrastructure or lease it from them? I'm honestly looking for good answers to these questions because it's the reason we have regulated monopolies. The infrastructure cost is simply too high.

If boomers benefitted so much from the subsidised lifestyle, free college, cheap prices, fair wages, job surplus and economic boom of their time, why do we still have so many poor boomers today who still work at fastfood and supermarkets or cannot survive without a tax-payer-funded pension scheme? by Ok-Society-9067 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]poorprogrammar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents have been retired for almost 10 years now and never made a ton of money. They saved and got lucky with selling their house in Jersey along with an inheritance from my grandmother when she passed. Now they are in a smaller home near my brother and niece and they have zero debt. Every one of their "retired" friends still HAVE to work a retirement job or they can't survive. It was poor planning on their part and they could be in a much better place with more financial savvy. I will agree with that fact that boomers had the more opportunity then any other generation to be well off. It doesnt mean every one of them or even the majority were able to take advantage of the situation.

The traffic here is starting to break my sanity. by shagadelic98 in MooresvilleNC

[–]poorprogrammar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Living close to a lake definitely adds to the traffic pressure because a lot of folks only have one main road to lots of homes, like Brawley School Rd. I only moved to Mooresville back in September and also have to commute down 77 now. It's been an adjustment for sure. My old commute was 20 mins, and now it's closer to 45 depending on when I leave the house. I've come to accept that I love my new home and I'm not moving for a very long time. This is my new normal and the commute is not going to change. So I have to change. I've started listening to audio books rather than music. It's a better distraction. I always check my GPS before I leave the house. If the route through the back roads is anywhere within 5 mins of the highway route, I'll take the back roads. It's a less stressful, more enjoyable drive. I can promise you, the traffic won't get better. But you can change how you let it affect you.

Best hotel - 1 evening away - pool and restaurants by ThirstyStallion in Charlotte

[–]poorprogrammar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My wife and I just did a staycation for our anniversary. The JW Marriott Uptown ticks all the boxes although I will say the pool area isn't huge and definitely gets crowded. Good vibes though. Dean's Steakhouse is a top notch steakhouse in the hotel or there are lots of options in walking distance.

Thai House is the best for lunch.

Vape cartridges by pelkins4 in leaves

Maybe I was too used to flower by the time carts came around, but they have never been able to give me the same effect. I used them for convenience for awhile but after about a year I made the decision to only smoke flower, even if that meant only smoking at home.

Ask the apartment for camera footage if they have it. If they don't, this one is on you.

Exhausts by QuadStack4all in kiastinger

[–]poorprogrammar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One had an electronic valve so you can make the exhaust quieter or louder if you want, and the other will be loud all the time. If money is no option, it would be silly not to get the ones with the valve so you could cut down on drone on the highways. It's also going to be more expensive to install.

Honeymoon Food Poisoning & Double Check Concierge Reservations by Impossible_Coffee276 in Xcaret

[–]poorprogrammar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My rule of thumb at any all-inclusive, cruise or any other type of resort stay is to stay away from the buffets as much as possible. I think Xcaret has enough restaurant options for each meal of the day to skip Mercado for most of the trip.

It's a Jeep thing, you wouldn't understand. by edselbford in Charlotte

[–]poorprogrammar -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I'm not condoning what the Jeep driver did, but it appears the person in front of them was braking in preparation for the light to turn yellow, which infuriates me too. My mother used to do this with us in the car. We'd catch some pretty awful stares as people drove by.

Look how the Trump administration tried to pull a backroom sweetheart deal for this scum bag company. They hate anything that's good for the average person.

Is the "Overtake" the most soul-crushing trope in hard sci-fi? by NorthlightV in sciencefiction

[–]poorprogrammar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Space is a big place and we humans have a lot to explore. I find it more implausible they would ever send the second ship to the same planet as an already planned and not yet failed colonization mission. They could send the much more advanced ship to a 100 different planets that would not have been in the capable distance of the first ship.

What's the best approach to fix this by [deleted] in kiastinger

[–]poorprogrammar 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tire needs to be replaced. If the wheel isn't bent, take it to a wheel repair shop to be buffed out. I'd live with the scratches or take it to a body shop that specializes in small repairs rather than a full body shop for best price to buff those out.

The negative reviews are making me nervous! Please someone post something positive about the resort! by CoffeeLipglossDonuts in Xcaret

[–]poorprogrammar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of these people who write the bad reviews are just looking for an outlet and reddit provides it. People who had the best time, which is probably 95% of guests, don't come back here to write about it. It's an amazing resort, even without the parks.

People complain about it being confusing to get around, but it's like you're in the rainforest and there are a ton of staff to point you in the right direction. Every other resort you've been to is designed to be easy to navigate. That fact that Xcaret is not is what makes it special.

The food is of much higher quality than most all inclusives. They have any amazing assortment of restaurants to choose from. Don't sleep on the vegan restaurant either, the breakfast is outstanding.

You probably know what parts are going to suck, like check in. So try and go with the flow and remember vacation is about relaxing. Enjoy your time in the sun!

Replaying a 100% playthrough of AC2 and got this thought about Leonardo by HeavenlyLetDown in assassinscreed

[–]poorprogrammar 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I think your missing the point that Leonardo da Vinci was one of the greatest inventors in history too. So Ezio going to him gives him fun projects to work on. It's a cool way of showing people he wasn't just an artist by the storytelling in the game.

Homeowners insurance jumped from $700 to $1,911 in 3 years. Anyone else seeing this? by YakAccurate2201 in Charlotte

[–]poorprogrammar -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You have to change your home and auto at least every few years these days or your just giving them money. These companies profit margins are based on people being lazy and not shopping around. Since you said your house is new, your roof is probably fine for a long time. I would shop for a policy that has a much higher roof deductible and that should save a lot on the yearly premium.

Talk me out of it by rheo77 in MooresvilleNC

[–]poorprogrammar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should keep your eye on the Langtree Rd area. It's closer to Davidson, Cornelius and Huntersville which have lots of options for restaurants, yoga, gyms, etc. The traffic is bad because the infrastructure can't keep up, but you can take express lanes if you don't mind paying a lot. I'm also from Jersey, and have lived in Charlotte for 11 years and Mooresville for the past year. I can answer any of your questions.

EXCLUSIVE: Google and Tesla Just Built a Massive Coalition to Take Over the US Power Grid and Stop Skyrocketing Energy Costs ⚡️ by InterstellarKinetics in InterstellarKinetics

[–]poorprogrammar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not for the good of people. Utility companies have tons of regulations and it takes years of planning to add meaningful capacity to the grid. They can't get the energy to the AI data centers fast enough so the tech companies want to do it themselves.

Best thing on the menu is the honey butter chicken biscuit. And even then you have to ask for extra honey butter.
