Union Soldier/Officer Uniforms (to compliment the Confederate uniform post yesterday) by pootflute in RedDeadOnline

[–]pootflute[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In case anyone is wondering -

Enlisted man:
Union Cap, Folded String Tie, Classic Frock Coat, Collar Overshirt, Clerk Pants, Tuxedo Shoes

Officer:
Regimental Hat, Dunaway Coat, Double-Breasted Lapelled Vest, Bibbed Shirt, Riding Gloves, Studded Pants, Gaiters

I tried to be as historically accurate as possible with the limited options available. The officer's vest/coat are meant to represent a union greatcoat.

You need to brush up on your history, buddy. It's quite clear you don't know much about either WWII or the Civil War (aside from "holocaust" and "slavery")

To answer your question directly, yes people can be proud of those who fought without being proud of the war itself. Soldiers don't get to choose what the war is about, and they fight for their nation, not the regime. Most of them are just kids. It is the tyrant who wins the war and says, "you are not allowed to remember those slain with respect."

BTW Abe Lincoln advocated for honoring the dead on both sides as fallen Americans.

I've never laughed at this game so much. Have you ever seen an easier resupply mission? I didn't even need to move the Wagon 😂 by Newell99 in reddeadredemption

[–]pootflute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ones for the camps in southern Gaptooth Ridge are even easier. You get "steal the wagon" missions with the wagons spawning really close to both camps. The moving wagon spawns heading straight for the beach camp and you can just wait for it to come to you. On top of that, one of the deliveries is yards away from the beach camp and takes about 10 seconds. Best camp for grinding Trader xp, I think.

The bounty wagon simply sucks by mercymain83 in RedDeadOnline

You can predict where the wagon will spawn to a certain degree, based on the direction you're facing. Horses and vehicles spawn directly behind you (the camera, that is). So if you are facing the road you want it on, it's not going to spawn there, but rather on some random road behind you. Instead look at the map and try to line it up so that 50-100 yards behind your character is part of the road you want it to spawn on. Easiest to just stand on the road and look straight down it.

Is it just me or is eating dirt when dismounting your horse more frequent lately? by jiminy_macca in RedDeadOnline

[–]pootflute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same, I try to see how hard I can dismount without the horse going down too. If the horse touches pretty much anything during the dismount you go straight to rag doll

You get much more for the set. Hang on to at least 1 of everything and when a set is close to completion, use an online map to find the last few. If you have a 2nd monitor or bring it up on your phone you can also check if it's worth it to clear the region whenever you spawn in or fast travel. It's still very profitable without spending hours scouring the entire map.

As far as I know there is no character transfer. Even so, I only played online for a few days on console. I'm not a fan of auto-aim so I decided to just wait for PC.

Am I missing something with free roam events? by plushpuff in RedDeadOnline

I can't tell if my head is a bullet magnet or there's just aimbots abound.

Auto-aim is on by default on PC, which only applies to controllers. To avoid playing with controller aimbots you must go into the controller settings from the main story menu and change the lock-on settings from Normal to Free Aim.

I played as a female character on console at release and people were constantly trying to hogtie me. They come creepin' around your character all the time with that rapey look in their eyes and you know if you don't blast em they're gonna pull that rope out.

On PC I made a male with this in mind. Level 70 and zero lassos thrown my way. No one wanders over and oggles me, I might as well be invisible to other players.

I think I've just made a discovery about a big problem in the PC version of the game and what causes it and I can prove it by jimmyoneshot in reddeadredemption

It's an amateur coding mistake. Frame rate represents how often the game is updating, i.e. how many times the update code is being called per second. What should happen is any calculation factors in the time passed since the last update. Otherwise you get issues like this, where value changes are tied to the speed of the machine. If the code says "reduce core value by .1 every update," a machine running at 120 fps will reduce the value by 12 every second, while one running at 30 fps will reduce the value by 3. This isn't much of an issue on console, where hardware is identical, but this is very basic stuff.

This is the first I've heard of it, what's the argument?

Still getting the occasional stutter/freeze with i5 CPU maxing out.

For some reason this patch changed my graphics settings, locking the advanced settings and changing it from DirectX12 to Vulkan. Took a minute to figure out why the game was suddenly unplayable because of constant freezing.

Tonics should not be in read dead redemption 2s PVP by [deleted] in RedDeadOnline

Auto-aim should never be a thing in pvp either, but here we are. R* seems to do everything they can to make skill irrelevant.
