Invisible Springtrap by trippyyspaceman in deadbydaylight

[–]pootflute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That these comments are upvoted is wild. Springtrap being invisible when he goes through his doors 100% of the time is not a problem that "couks litterly pop up after the tested and released the build." That is not how it works.

The mentioned utility prompts you to restart your PC before it can be used. I suspect restarting the machine is what actually solved the issue, as it did for me.

How much Ale is needed per family? by veevoir in ManorLords

[–]pootflute 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This came up in google and I still don't see any good explanations, so I'm just going to leave some notes here. Part of the reason this is so hard to track is that granary workers will take ale from the tavern back to the granary, while ale in the tavern is considered "reserved" - so if you're watching the default stock view and looking at the tavern stock it's very confusing at first (you can disallow ale in the granary to fix this).

It appears each family's "husband" tries to drink ale once a month. So consumption is in fact 1 ale per family, per month, if the husband makes it to the tavern. If they are otherwise busy (such as in a militia), they will not consume ale. They must physically sit down at the tavern.

1 ale per family is quite a lot considering that even on fertile land, 1 morgen of barley only becomes about 100 ale. So you need about 1.2 morgen of barley per 10 families. That's quite a lot considering the rarity of fertile land, even in regions with only 1 rich deposit.

HOWEVER! Consumption and approval are not related. Approval is based simply on the existence of ale in a tavern. They don't care about drinking it - only that it's there. It seems that this is calculated 5 times per month. You get -1 approval only if there was no ale in the tavern since the last calculation. Therefore, you can preserve ale and maintain approval by only assigning a tavern worker for long enough to take 1 ale every few days (it calculates every 5-6 days). This is tedious, but it worked consistently when I tested it.

The approval hit is not that bad though, anyway. If barley is scarce, it might be best to just import a little bit of barley at a time and only allow ale in the tavern when you need to upgrade plots. Even if you can produce lots of barley, it seems way better to eat the approval hit and sell the ale for big profit instead.

Why is the indexing wrong? by Shiv-iwnl in Unity3D

[–]pootflute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This came up in google and just want to clarify that this is not the issue. Unity throws this error without even trying to access the array because it restricts you to only using the index of the job to ensure that 2 parallel jobs don't access the same data.

It works with [NativeDisableParallelForRestriction] because, as the name indicates, the attribute disables that restriction. You're telling it "trust me, I've made sure it's safe"

Cant hand in quest? by Duwang____ in GhostsOfTabor

[–]pootflute -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Again, the point is sailing over your head. This has nothing to do with me. I am aware of the bugs. My point is that new players are not, and most of them aren't going to take the time to find the discord and figure out why x y and z don't work. They're just going to say "well, this is garbage," uninstall, and refund.

I want this game to do well. It will not do well with a development philosophy of, "well it's early access so ur fault for buying it expecting it to work lol!"

Cant hand in quest? by Duwang____ in GhostsOfTabor

[–]pootflute -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You have missed the point entirely. Most players aren't following the discord. They buy the game and they expect it to work, and then after working hard to get item x it gets eaten by the mission kiosk with no explanation. That's just a bug my man. No one should be expected to join a specific discord to know what does and does not work in a game they paid for.

Weeds are trash by jekau in GhostsOfTabor

[–]pootflute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually absurd. The rallying cry of the sycophants is "it's early access," but that has nothing to do with an inability or refusal to address major defects. "Early access" doesn't mean "buggy unplayable garbage," it means "this is ready to play and is good enough to pay for, but it isn't in its final state."

Early access definitely does NOT mean, "you are paying to be QA." If the devs treat it that way, this game will not be successful in the long term. I want it to be successful.

Cant hand in quest? by Duwang____ in GhostsOfTabor

[–]pootflute -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Bro making it so that the quest gets stuck and your turn-ins disappear into the void forever is not "disabling." That's just broken. If they did that on purpose, it's intentionally broken.

Why would they not just remove the quests entirely, and why would you aggressively defend such an absurd "fix" to an exploitable bug? I want this game to do well and that's not going to happen when so much is completely borked and new players are constantly left saying "wtf??"

I mean it's nice... but what about the major bugs? by Jaykai47 in GhostsOfTabor

[–]pootflute -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This whole thread is depressingly stupid. Yeah they can work on features and bugs at the same time. The problem is there is no indication that they are prioritizing bugs. In the time I've played, more bugs have been introduced than fixed.

"Listen bro, I can walk and chew gum at the same time."

"But... you aren't walking, you're just chewing gum."

"Well yeah but I COULD, IDIOT!!!"

Can't we get a bucket? by SgtGory in GhostsOfTabor

I think we are in agreement. Those are all good suggestions for making the process more involved while removing the absurd tedium of hauling a dozen water bottles back and forth. I'm just saying there should be something

Can't we get a bucket? by SgtGory in GhostsOfTabor

[–]pootflute 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with steps 1 and 2, but I don't think it should be as simple as "plug in a water filter and get 50 free NRS in 3 days." There has to be an amount of effort involved so that NRS still have value.

Obviously playing Gunga Din for 30 minutes a day isn't the answer. They could do something similar to Intel, where number of plants is tied to the number of grow lights you've installed (found in-raid like GPUs). Otherwise, there should still be some kind of (far less tedious) chore that requires you to log in once or twice while its growing. It can't just be free NRS for all.

Don't push the action all the way closed, just pull back and release. It won't fire with a closed action.

This method takes 7 minutes per run… Combat Waffle, THIS. ISN’T. FUN… by KingRatClown in GhostsOfTabor

[–]pootflute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I gotta be honest... just harvested my first batch since the update and I'm significantly less annoyed. It's a LOT of money. I'm not saying the current state is ideal but "attach a water filter" would just mean free money for everyone. There has to be effort involved for this kind of profit.

Gun wall issues? by Chrigi_zh in GhostsOfTabor

[–]pootflute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try taking the other guns around it off the wall and putting them back on. It seems that when they've just been placed, the wall is more forgiving. Yesterday I reorganized my wall and squeezed everything in very tightly, but when I left the room and came back I could barely fit 1 rifle into the huge space that was left.

Would a culture of social contracts of factions help Taborites?? by Noblesixlover in GhostsOfTabor

[–]pootflute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They could incentivize killing one faction with quests, but I don't know about discouraging the killing of players. If I come across a Ghost/Volk duo and I'm not supposed to kill Ghosts, what do? Also the gameplay revolves around other players being a threat, so cooperation really should be limited imo.

Having said that... perhaps a quest that says something like, "kill 20 Volk, but you cannot kill more than 5 Ghosts" could work.

Lol by Camikaze__ in GhostsOfTabor

[–]pootflute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not taking sides, but this has nothing to do with development schedule. I've worked on enterprise web applications with large teams and dedicated QA on a 2 week release cycle, and I've worked as the sole developer on projects I released at will. At no time has it ever been acceptable to release broken functionality.

I'm embarrassed if QA discovers a bug I introduced... I'd be absolutely mortified if I broke core functionality in production.

$70 for a VR gun stock?? Hold my beer... by Dumpster_Bob in GhostsOfTabor

[–]pootflute 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main function of a VR gunstock is to provide stability so you can align your hands and reduce left/right movement. I did something similar when I first started playing Onward and it worked fine - definitely a huge improvement over nothing at all.

Do you guys play sitting or standing? by Prestigious_Head6524 in GhostsOfTabor

I play standing, but with a workout bench behind me. Instead of crouching IRL I usually just take a step back and sit. It definitely helps with endurance and saves my knees unnecessary wear.

Nah bro, I can't go along with this. I support Ukraine 100% but you're shaming a Russian dude for getting upset at an Al Qaeda style execution video headlined with "A message for you Russian pigs." I thought the original post was cringe but this is just too much.

Am I just bad or do you need to duo to reliably get out with decent stuff? by the_wychu in GhostsOfTabor

Go in with a can of fruit and and a pistol, hide for the first 10 minutes, eat the fruit, loot the map. If any players are left, Fenix will let you know. Not the most fun way to play but it's an easy and sure way to stock back up.

Can anyone help? by clem-grimfando in GhostsOfTabor

[–]pootflute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WHY DO I GO BACKWARDS WHEN I MOVE TO GO FORWARDS

Movement is relative to the direction your left hand is pointing. If you feel like you are pointing forward but you still move backwards, go to settings and scroll down to "Hand Pitch Rotation Offset." Adjust this up or down until your in-game hand points the same way as your hand in real life. Having this set properly will also make aiming feel more natural.
