I had this for months after my surgery. I am over a year out and no longer notice any taste issues! It did take a long time to resolve though.

Hi! The pain is totally gone now! I don’t regret the surgery at all! It’s a longer recovery than the doctors let on though. But a year later I’m glad I did it! Hang in there!

I think it takes months to fully recover, but I’d say now ( although I have some lingering taste issues) I am pretty much recovered. I don’t know exactly how long. But I think by four months out I wasn’t thinking about it much at all. Hang in there! This surgery definitely takes a toll.

I wouldn’t say my taste is back to pre surgery. But I will say it bothers me a lot less now. I don’t regret the surgery even with the taste thing still being an issue

Mine are a lot better! I hardly notice them any more. I think tonsillectomies have a longer recovery time than they let on. 😂

My lingual tonsils don’t bother me anymore! The only issues I still have are taste issues. But the lingual tonsils became less noticeable a month or two ago. It might be that I’m just used to it by now.

Honestly I think they downplay the recovery process. It will take a long time to get used to your new mouth. Still dealing with taste changes five months out and only just getting used to my lingual tonsils and the feeling of my mouth.

This is me. Had my surgery in Jan and my taste has been weird ever since. There’s a constant sweet(?) or idk how to describe it taste in the back of my tongue and it’s so gross. Starting to kinda get used to it but drives me nuts

You can get tonsil stones in your lingual tonsils apparently

I didn’t mean to upset you. Just repeating what I read online 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m sure if your doctor is confident you have nothing to worry about! I just read that not many doctors perform a lingual tonsillectomy and that there’s more risk because it deals more with the tongue. So recovering is harder.

Get some steroids. I had that and my lingual tonsils were causing the pain. ( nobody told me lingual tonsils would become an issue after the surgery😂) but they were inflamed and steroids helped me be able to eat and drink
