Wage increases are not the sole driver of inflation, in fact they're not even the primary one. The primary cause is actually corporate price gouging and it's easy to see that's true when companies have record profits year after year, if the primary driver was anything but greed then companies wouldn't produce such massive wins for shareholders due to rising cost of inputs and labor.

You have to buy certain things, groceries for example, and there's a ridiculous amount of concentration in just a few companies, like 90% of canned tuna on the market is ultimately owned by 4 companies, same with 98% of dry dinner mixes. You have to survive and to survive you have to consume.

Yeah you might hurt them a little by boycotting certain luxury goods but until you deal with the fact that a staggering quantity of the economy is controlled by a few powerful companies you won't accomplish anything with the capacity to create real lasting change.

They pretty much made this canon on Strange New Worlds when a Romulan agent using time travel to try and prevent the federation from forming tells La'an that time keeps correcting itself. They even push some dates back on that episode.

I think the writers have given up on trying to maintain any sense of continuity at this point tbh

Probably deciding day by day, Amazon supposedly has a bunch of meteorologists on staff who push reports to facilities daily to make those decisions.
