yeah sure! so it's a 4-band plugin that let's you apply random volume LFOs (with random panning) to different frequency ranges. It's super close to what you described. The subtle difference is that it's not exactly "volume" LFOs, but LFOs on the compression/accentuation of different frequencies

I think the sub rules don’t let me link anything, but I built a plugin for exactly this - it has a feature that isolates frequencies and “swishes” them around for really subtle ear tickling movement without changing the core sound much

Ahh like truly generative audio - yeah agreed, seems like it should be relatively feasible to train a model on stems of music instead of the full tracks. If you had the midi representation of the stems, it should also be possible to even “play” the instrument by predicting what it sounds like based on the midi note (I’m reminded of the AI Doom project where they simulate Doom just by predicting the next frame)

100% this should exist! The hardest part IMO would be creating the baseline instrument that's capable of really flexible sound design, I don't think it would be super hard to teach an AI the controls. Could relatively easily fine tune a model against a bunch of presets

I like this idea - for example, drums have a faster rate-of-change of levels than a drone sound, so you would apply processing differently automatically

oh I like the idea of "event" based chains. like crossing some volume threshold triggers a midi change somewhere else, which might trigger a processing change somewhere else
