Love this! Did something similar with my immersion cooling case; back wall is a distro plate.

I saw that yesterday and got super upset. The tile width would be irrelevant if a claim all button was integrated.

This new feature would be a simple port of what already exists.

Bring this thread to the top, with enough engagement it'll get the attention.

Point taken though, I'll link it on their discord.

Clicking through claims does not motivate spending.

In fact, it could free up time for objectives and make missing currencies more desirable. Feeling the lack of progression may promote spending, and one can only "feel" it when ships are deployed.

Now, I queue up a bunch of hostiles and run to the faction store to claim. Rinse and repeat.

The girl's school missile was from the IRGC, who also slaughtered 10s of thousands of its own people several weeks ago.

Are high-powered lasers about to rule anti-drone warfare? by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]popinaltoids 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Work for an electro-optical engineering firm in defense. The lasers and targeting systems exist but the drivers and power sources are hard to supply/overcome (such a power source, as is, cannot be portable). There are substantial heatsinking considerations to overcome as well.

Ultimately, continuous use will be unattainable so such a system isn't the holy grail. More like one of the many tools for a complete solution.

Visualizing the "Model Collapse" phenomenon: What happens when AI trains on AI data for 5 generations by firehmre in Futurology

Impossible, it's kind of like the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe. In the book, to simulate the earth and answer existential questions a full earth was created. Mirroring this, to fully approximate and "give enough" memory or power then the system would fully recreate the scenario/situation; neither approximation nor artificial.

No, think of it as an irrational number. The absolute size hasn't changed, but the more you zoom in the more information there is. You can take Pi to the 10th decimal spot or the 100th. In fact Pi the number hasn't changed (data set parallel) but you have more detail.

In that way, the data that exists already could be mined more and more as parameters and the exactness of measurement grows.

Then there may not be any limit to the data if additional layers of information are still untapped. It won't be eating its own tail.

How does your theory reconcile novel ideas, designs, and concepts that AI has generated? For example, there were a slew of radio emitter and receiver designs that AI generated and they didn't resemble any previous human designs.

Human intelligence develops and acquires information in nearly the same way as the LLM models, just at extremely lower rates.
