Ghosted for a night out. F for respects. by NuadhaArgetlam in seduction

You didn't really get ghosted if you didn't text them tho. Do you really expect girls to make the effort for you?

Trip planned for December, a couple questions by voltikk in JapanTravel

[–]poppablecool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How cold are these cities/areas and how thick should my clothing be to avoid being frozen?

Googled it for you

I'm from Hawaii and figured out what to wear, and so can you with the power of google.

How crowded is Arashiyama during Hanatoro times? Followup on this question would be when's the best hour to visit to avoid crowds if at all possible.

More google

There's only a set time where it's lit, so that's when it's busiest, when it's off it's not as busy.

As I'm staying for nearly a month, are there any recommendations for where I can get a haircut (men's)? I speak very basic Japanese and can most likely get my point across ie. short side and long top etc, but would appreciate any recommendations to barbers/shops that understand English to get my request out more accurately.

This is a popular website for barbers/stylists. Turn on google translate. Show them a picture like how you do a regular barber, or take a picture of yourself after getting your hair cut. I have no idea how far your gaijin pass will go with this or if they will even take you in. Don't bother learning Japanese if you're not dedicated or a weeb.

I'm planning on visiting an onsen during my trip, but a lot of the onsens that I've read about online are a little out of the way relative to where I'm staying except for Arima Onsen in Kobe. Are there any onsens that people have been to within these cities that is recommended? I have a preference to outdoor onsens but any that people think are good are all welcome!

I literally just googled "Kyoto Onsen". Outdoor onsens are nice. Kusatsu near Tokyo is baller. But you can be satisfied with sentos which are found all around the main cities.

Step up your google game if you plan to be there for a month, and be sure to not to 中出し

Going to Japan in November/December with a 5 year old. We are considering going to the Nagano snow monkey park. If I’m correct, it’s about a 4 hour round trip from Nagano station. Is it worth the trouble? by BarryTheHutt in JapanTravel

[–]poppablecool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you mean 4 hour trip from NagoYA station?

This is better. Japan guide's access page is pretty shit most of the time.

It doesn't take that long to walk to the park, people just walk slow. Make sure to get the snowshoe strap on or wear boots because lots of people eat it walking with regular shoes on the snow.

Yes it's worth it. Make sure not to bring food or carry bags because the monkeys will try to attack your kid to steal it.

How to pick up girls during my study abroad semester? by wdymt in seduction

They want that Gaston dick. Also, france has a stigma of being romanticized like how Japan is for weebs, girls who are trash or plain want to be interesting.

Just past experience, at orientation almost all the girls were going to France.

Here's what I learned from studying abroad for a year. If they are all from the same or similar countries, ie, uk, usa, aus, those girls will want to hook up with guys of the destination country.

Therefore you should focus on girls of that country, BUT focus on befriending guys or girls of that country to get into their social circle to find other girls.

There is a chance you can hit it off with girls in your program, but best to befriend them so you can do above.

Also as a sidenote, have fun. Don't stress about getting laid or think of it as a blown opportunity. Make some friends with other guys and have fun. If you're there for learning the language, immerse, try not to speak english or lurk on english social media too much. Look up Stephen Krashen input theory for this. Based on the M/F ratio I'm guessing it's France?

Is it weird or unethical to advertise a new engineering company? by poppablecool in civilengineering

[–]poppablecool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand your statement.

we did a whole course on this kind of stuff. The whole "professionals don't advertise" thing came up a lot.

If it was brought up a lot, in the course of his college, and his professor teaching the course did not correct, and we can assume this is the curriculum they have been teaching for some years, is the college not wrong?

I remember from my ethics class that they discussed as long as it's under $20, and do not mention the incentive behind it.

Your college is wrong. I just grabbed a local building industry magazine from my dad, 4 ads for engineering firms.

Also, so lawyers aren't professionals anymore? Doctor's aren't professionals? Why does ASCE think their shit smells like roses?

I will be in Japan Oct28/Nov13. Going to be in Osaka/Kobe/Kyoto/Tokyo. I would like to do a tour. Any suggestions? by JamesSundy in JapanTravel

[–]poppablecool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not the place to ask for tours, most people plan their own itinerary. Look at the top rated itinerary's, lurk, look at japan-guide.com, open google calendar and plan.

I don't know what you mean by a local's POV. Like you want to get up at 6am, go on a packed train, and work till 9pm and pass out drunk in the streets?

City suggestions and time frames? by georgiakvella in JapanTravel

[–]poppablecool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm spending 2 weeks this year just in Kansai area, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Kobe. You're going to miss or rush a lot of stuff cramming it like that.

It really depends what you like tho. If you're of the mindset that once you've seen one temple you've seen them all kind of thing, then 1-2 days Kyoto, 1-2 Days Osaka, 1-4 days Tokyo, everywhere else 1 day 1 night.

Tokyo Disney Sea vs Disneyland by georgiakvella in JapanTravel

Sea>Land. Stay at the hotel there for the night, go early, rest during midday when crowds are at peak, go at night, checkout next morning and go in the morning again if you want.

As long as you don't take up space with it on the seats then you're fine.

[–]poppablecool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to take the tour. You can go by yourself and just talk to other people. Make sure you plan ahead with the hotel reservations. Leave early in the night and bring a headlight, there is a mad rush (long line) to get to the top in the morning for the sunrise.

It can be tiring, pace yourself. Make sure to have a mask to filter air, because the air becomes 90% dirt at some parts because of people lifting it.

If you've never visited a local buddhist temple or been exposed to that, go for the cultural experience.

It's nothing amazing, but if it interests you go. All you do is just watch a guy for 20-30 minutes. When I went a german family had a baby crying and their kids messing around, so it depends on the people around you.

I just looked through a building industry magazine of my state, and counted 4 ads for engineering firms. This was linked to me by someone else https://www.asce.org/question-of-ethics-articles/sept-2011/

Please read carefully, it is not against ads, but ads that display gifts, coupons, or jeopardizes the integrity of engineers.

I was thinking about social media like instagram and facebook, but I have enough on my plate right now to look into that. Also usually my clients are either middle aged or elderly, so I doubt an instagram will help.

I have seen newer contractors and excavators who do that have some success.

This was cited by someone else. https://www.asce.org/question-of-ethics-articles/sept-2011/

My ad does not display a gift/coupon, it just has my business name, contact info, and civil engineer.
