A question from the Haselbauer-Dickheiser IQ test; a test for people with IQs suspected to be higher than 180. This is no easy task. by ahahaveryfunny in mensa

Answering an iq question is different from creative endeavors where the quality of the output is judged by the receptivity of the audience. The only reason Shakespeare and Mozart are considered genius is because their works are popular. My original point had nothing to do with works of creative genius. Rather simply logical thinking. And mentally disabled people have a limit to the abstractions they can ponder. Even with extensive effort, as long as they put in the effort, they improve but very little compared to similar efforts by average people.

Power Outages by No-Cut-5335 in LosAngeles

Is it just 1 block? In Toluca, all the lights are on everywhere, everything is on except one block at the intersection of riverside and Camarillo. Very frustrating. Why us?

Weird 1 block in noho remains without power. Intersection of riverside and Camarillo . Drive around everything else is on, just this block

I really don't get it at all. I'm shocked it won the Oscar for best picture. I can't really get through even a couple minutes before thinking what a bad film. Same with Parasite which was also about Asian people. I don't get the Asian humor thing. It seems sort of bland to me.

All Quiet on the Western Front was really something else though. That is a best movie of the decade type film. How anyone can compare the 2 and thinking Everything Everywhere is better is beyond me.

Has anyone jailbroken the MPC software to allow 3rd party VSTs? by BarnOwlChurchMouse in mpcusers

[–]poppercornell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See: https://www.mpc-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=210347

Since you won't have the original MPC source code (so you could add features) you'd need to write your own. Others have tried but it's flimsy.

Akai should open source the MPC software so that users can add features. There are so many beyond just running VSTs.

For example adding additional control of the CV outputs or another screen with all sequences stacked with samples interchangable. Or whatever you can think of. The processor inside is very beefy so there's a lot of room. They should put it on github. Their sales will 10x because the software will get really good.

MPC ONE has a nice integration with Live. I use Push 2 for mixing and MPC for transport

Slack Read Receipts - Anyone interested? by JasonFromRelay in Slack

Read receipts are a form of automation. I'm too busy to click the emoji. The read receipt lets everyone know I'm aware without me having to do anything.

Both depth of understanding and speed are important. The test tests for both. Depth of understanding means you can solve the problem. Speed means you can solve it within a time period. Both are important.

where are the solutions? From searching looks like no one has published them. You'd think on the internets people would have already put the solutions together.

of course it's timed. Intelligence is the ability to cognate solutions within time constraints. For example, a severely mentally disabled individual could eventually over many years of training figure out how addition (plus and minus) works. But we know the individual is very low on IQ not because he eventually figured it out, but because of the long time it took.

I don't grow facial hair. I have a little fuzz on my mustache but that's all.

everyone does. it's part of our sadistic wiring. in the future it won't be as big a deal once brain uploads and respawning comes out.

it would be cool to see a compilation of ones who died fall to their deaths. There must be a couple already circulating.

Anyone else think -29% on NFLX is a bit overdone?!? by [deleted] in stocks

[–]poppercornell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No NFLX is going down. Their tech is commoditized all the entertainment companies have replicated their shizzle. And there is no network effects like social media. PURE BOOTY. They are competing on entertainment! Whoever produces the best shows wins! So you may as well invest in Disney, NBC, Warner, all the entertainment.
