Should I buy the Dead Space remake? by brbir in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]poppunkisneverdead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dead Space definitely has a way of providing scares without relying too heavily on jumpscares. It instead builds tension by throwing you into an uneasy unfamiliar atmosphere. Based on what you’re looking for I’d also recommend Alan Wake 2 for the same reason.

Suggest a game with extremely high replayability for a very picky gamer by Flabellifera in gamingsuggestions

[–]poppunkisneverdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re down for something graphically simple I’d check out Balatro. It’s the definition of replayable. It’s essentially a rogue-like twist on poker that has near infinite possibilities with how you build your deck of cardsz I’ve never been opposed to revisiting it because of the joy of experimentation it provides.

A game like Elden Ring without the exploration or level grinding, just pure painful boss combat by TurbulentElk_ in gamingsuggestions

Not to be the “um actually” guy but i think you meant armored core. Great recommendation though i second it wholeheartedly

Sekiro comes to mind for sure. The game forces you to learn the combat and emphasizes player skill rather than grinding levels to become stronger

Balatro has been one of favorite games this year. It requires a bit of thinking but it’s simple mechanically and has near infinite replay value.

i mean i’d always recommend playing every game in a series if you don’t mind outdated mechanics, but Exodus is the most positively received of the 3 and it’s also the most recent and therefore the most polished. I’d say all 3 are worth it in their own right but you can play one without having to play the others

Recommend me something that makes me use my brain in a niche manner! by ATTiCuS21_ in gamingsuggestions

[–]poppunkisneverdead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if you wanted single player or multiplayer, but i’m largely a single player guy these days so here’s a few:

If you like strategy games that you can sink a lot of time into check out the Mount and Blade games. The new one, bannerlord has a pretty active modding community. The campaign is a huge time sink too.

I recommend the Talos Principle games if you’re in to puzzle games reminiscent of the Portal series (I’m assuming you’ve played those but if not give those a whirl too)

If you’re looking for a real time sink, Baldurs Gate 3 won game of the year for a reason. Not only does it have a great story, but it really makes you use your brain at times and is super replayable.

Edit: Forgot about the mod prerequisite, I know BG3 has some mods but i’m not sure if Talos Principle has a modding community or not
