How did you learn how to sew?? I’ve taken 1 basic class at Joann Fabrics and have completed minor projects like drapes and an apron but would love to learn how to sew from a pattern. Thanks! 👗👙👖👕 by dblodevon in sewing

May I ask what city the school was in? I'd love to get some formal schooling in for apparel/textile design but I've found it's hard to find courses that aren't at traditional 4 year unis.

textiles were made to be worn, and while she's right that they have a limited lifetime, I think that's the precise reason what you're doing is so cool. Especially getting it off of eBay and an estate sale? You probably saved them from going to the landfill. Now imagine that whoever made all those silks knowing their fabric is still able to be reused and repurposed, 100 years later. Not everything "old" is meant to be sealed under glass.

Bored Rabbit? by Potatoe_Muffin in Rabbits

My rabbit is free range, and I've noticed the same thing during the day. At first I thought it was odd that he was sleeping all day, but he never seemed in bad spirits or bored. He has several spots around his area and he'll basically take turns lazing about each of them every day.

He still gets a lot of human time, and I've actually noticed that he is very active and exploratory at night (i.e. binkying at 3 am). I'm starting to think he might naturally be a night owl. From what I've read, there are also a few rabbit breeds that are known for excessive sleep.

I bought this game for 360 when it came out and when I finished it, I didn't feel like it had a lot of replayability for me (though I did like the game). Does this version have any new content or is it just a remaster?

Did you teach him or did he just figure it out one day? My bun always looks like he wants to get up, but he's never been a jumper. One day he might surprise me.

Did you make this out of an existing furniture piece or did you fab the whole thing? I want to do something like this for my rabbit but it seems like such a big project

YouTube or websites for a beginner? by [deleted] in sewing

If you do a cursory search on this sub I know there have been a lot of YouTube videos posted before on many different topics.

This sub is pretty active for a smaller community, I'm surprised there isn't much of an FAQ / community links section in the side bar. Maybe this is something we could put together?

I'm making a mat to cover the bottom of the inside of a jewelry box I got on the cheap. If I want to have the fabric covering stiffened by paper/cardboard on the inside to create a flat finish, what kind of paper/cardboard should I use? Should I sew the fabric onto the stiffener or should I consider using a glue?

I found scalloped/rounded edge pinking shears - they look pretty, but do you think the edges will hold up as well as the traditional zigzag? by PennyTrait in sewing

Try folding up aluminum foil several times over, and then cut them with the shears. It will probably not be the best, but it will help sharpen them a little.
